Death of a parent

Posted Thursday May 26 2011, 8:57 am

I am a 48 year old female who live her mom all her life. My mom helped me to raise my 3 children who are now 28,26,18 and I would not have been able to do it without her. We were a team mom and I and were there for each other through thick and thin good time and bad. All 4 of us love my mom so much. My mom just passed away a little over a month ago and I have yet to shed one tear and I am really starting to get more then a little concerned. It doesn't seem to really bother me that I dont hear her voice or see her smiling face. This has been very hard on my children yet they talk to me about how they miss her very much. I don't seem to feel any of this and I am starting to think I am just a cold hearted person. Is this normal?

I never my man's mother and I feel like "the other woman"... haha... I just want her to know I love her son with all my heart and I want nothing but good things for him for the rest of his days. I want her to know he has touched my heart in a way that no one else ever could and that I am committed to him.. his life.. his feelings.. his thoughts.. ideas.. dreams.. etc. I know he loves his mom so very much and always has wonderful things to say about her - I've never met her and I one day hope to... but at this time I have to send her a letter and I don't really know how to do this. Two Death my family in a little over a month

Posted Wednesday May 25 2011, 12:50 am

I would like some advice on how to support my family members with the loss of both our mom and sister. My mom passed away on 4/7/2011 from cancer and my younger sister was by her bedside for six month taking care of her. Only leaving her side for about an hour a day. We had services for our mom and after a couple of weeks my sister went to Florida to get away and visit some friends on the day she was do to return (5/8/2011) she was shot and killed. Our family had yet to start the grieving process for our mom when this occurred and now we face this. As of yet there are no leads of who or why this was done and has left a lot of unanswered questions for our family. I am asking for suggestion on how to support my family in this terrible time be...

my mom treats me horribly

Posted Tuesday May 24 2011, 9:25 pm

I have posted a question like this before, and in hopes of my situation getting better, I stopped posting. However, it has not gotten better.

my mother treats me like shit. She calls me selfish and evil. She always wants me to be popular and get more active when I prefer to be quiet and by myself. She always brings me down. She tells me how much I remind her of my father because I am such a "selfish heartless ungrateful ass" and she always complains how I don't get anything done in life. I'm only sixteen and she has brought me down ever since I turned fourteen. She always tells me how stupid and slow I am when I don't do certain things right. I am very forgetful and she calls me retarded. When I tell her she makes ...

She is overly friendly (she has boyfriend)and acts like she belongs in the family. btw he owns a buisness and hired her to help him run it. He gets mad at me if I ask him if he has feelings for her. they divorces becuase she cheated. I now will not go to family functions theres no room for two wives. I feel threatened by the way he allows her to interact with his family and he says nothing. yet gets upset with me if Im uncomfortable. am i wrong ? she also stole money from his buisness yet he does nothing, he must still love her

I dated this guy when I was 15 and got pregnant. I broke up with him when I was 4 months pregnant because he was very controlling, manipulative, emotionally abusive, intimidating...etc. He never hit me but he has left bruises on me because he grabbed my arms too hard. He got married, and I knew his wife before they started dating. He came to see the baby for 3 months, dipped for 8 months, came back, and now he hasnt seen her in a month or 2 'because of work'. He doesnt pay child support but I dont want to pursue it because I dont want him to get any kjnd of custody.

My Mother

Posted Tuesday May 17 2011, 9:21 pm

I am 64 yrs old. My mother is 91. I come from a very Italian background. My mother has 1 daughter (me) and 1 son. She lives 8 minutes from me now. Always been dependent on me and needy. Next year my husband and I plan on retiring. Our goal is to move to Florida. We have no specific plan other than to sell our home and wing it. How can I ever make such a move and plan on taking my mom at some point in time. She occupies a condo and lives alone. Pretty self sufficient but I do talk to her just about everyday, visit once a week and whatever else she may need. How can I make this transition as easy and with a minimum amount of stress. I have only touched the surface of this but I see it as a huge problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Romy

Adult living at home

Posted Tuesday May 17 2011, 5:06 pm

20/f. I have always been pretty close to my mom, but right now we are just not gettingnalong anymore because she doesn't let me live. Honestly, she doesn't give me one minute alone. Today, she was going to go furniture shopping some place like 30 minutes away and I couldn't go with her because I had to study so I told her that I would rather stay at school and she started crying telling me that i don't love her anymore and that I ruined her day. Honestly, I really do have to study and these classes are already for my major so they count towards grad school. I thought about leaving to a different university because that is the only way she will really have to learn to live without me. But, I really like my school and I'm lucky enough to come...

Sister has anger issues

Posted Sunday May 15 2011, 6:59 pm

Hi. I'm 13 and my sis is 10. she is 50+lbs heavier than me and she can't control her anger. She beats me up prety much whenever I talk to her. I don't want to hurt her since shes my younger sis, but my parents don't really care that she does this and when they actually do something it's something along the lines of "No computer, no friends over, no tv etc. These are not making her stop. Whenever I defend myself I get grounded for a month. I tell my parents that its not fair and that I shouldn't be punished for defending myself, but they say its fair because I'm older and "should know better" I can't tell people my bruises are from my 10 yr old sister so what should I do? Should my sister go to anger managment class?

Why are Dad's soo unfair?!

Posted Saturday May 14 2011, 4:28 pm

Ok so my name is Melinda Grace but everyone calls me 'Gracie'and Im 13. And lately my dad's been really unfair to me and my twin sis Lissa because he let's our older brother Matt do whatever he wants but he doesn't let us do anything and he grounds us all the time. Like how a couple days ago Matt heard me tell Lissa about this boy that I really like. He gave me his phone number and I think he wants me to be his girlfriend. But when matt heard me tell that to lissa he told my dad that I had a boyfriend and I was hanging around boys all the time at school. So dad got all mad and took my phone and started to read the text messages that 'my boyfriend' sent. All the messages said was that he thought I was cute and he wanted to kiss me, they were...

Sister hates me

Posted Friday May 13 2011, 7:06 pm

things have been rough with us the past few months after a phone convo in which after i stated my weight, she made some rude comments and asked if i felt healthy. later i left an angry message on her facebook and deleted her from my friends list

it's been awhile since all that happened, so i thought maybe things could be forgotten between us.

but i just get the feeling, she really doesn't like me , and in fact, looks DOWN on me.
whenever she calls the house (she lives in another country) she fakely asks how my job search is going, then asks if our mom is there. when my mom isnt there, she quickly gets off the phone, making me afraid to try and make conversation with her.

I still sleep with my parents.

Posted Friday May 13 2011, 4:36 pm

Hey do you think its odd to be 13 and still sleeps with your parents? it is really embarrasing and my grandparents make fun of me and even my own dad but my mom dont. I didnt have my own room until i was 4 and so I always slept eith my parents. Also my siblings and things would scre me about ghosts and stuff and a lot of times I see things like wierd stuff in the middle of the night and I think about ghosts. Also another thing i worry about is that someone will break in and I want to be with my mom. When I have friends spend the night with me I sleep in my own room with them and things (which most of the time we don't sleep) but anyway. Do you think it's wierd or abnormal please help!! Thanks!

CONFUSED!!!!!!!!!!

Posted Friday May 13 2011, 11:18 am

Okay I'm pregnant with my current boyfriends baby and I have three choices. My first choice is to move in with my sister while he gets a job and we both move in together. My second choice is move in with him and his family. My last choice which is giving me the biggest problems is staying with my mom and my other sister. The problem with that is that me and that sister don't get along and both her and my mom don't want me to be with my boyfriend until he gets a job. I love my boyfriend so much and I don't want to live with my mom and she is trying to force me into staying with her but I don't want to because I wont be able to see him. My question is out of the three which one would sound like the best choice for me right now? (btw I'm 19)
