accounting major

Posted Thursday July 6 2006, 12:33 pm

I'm going to get an associates degree in accounting. There are accounting program electives that I can choose from, and one is "full-time internship". What is this? And what is a "half-time internship"?

Also, I'm going to transfer to a 4 year college (I attend a junior college) after I get an associates. Will the 4-year college accept the associates, or will it look at the classes I took? (Basically, will I ever have to take a math/english/history/science class after my associates if I don't have to for my bachelors major).

"oral communications"

Posted Wednesday July 5 2006, 9:27 pm

For my major, I have to take an "speech" class (I assume you make speeches). The thing is, I am a horrible public speaker and get totally nervous. Do most colleges offer this as an online class? Are there any degree programs that do not require a "speech" or "oral communications" class? I try to avoid speeches as much as I can in school.

Joining the Air Force

Posted Tuesday June 27 2006, 4:16 pm

*Sorry if it's in the wrong catagory, but this is the closest i could find*

I am a 16 year old female considering joining the Air Force when I am of age. I was wondering if anyone knew where i could get some information regarding the Air Force. I looked all over their website and couldn't find a place to request information. If anyone knows where I can find information that would help me with the decision of joining or not, i would greatly appreciate it.

I am looking to find out what the air force consists of *boot camp, jobs, etc.* and their requirements. And also where i could find a recruiter near me.

thank you greatly!

Is it possible???

Posted Friday June 23 2006, 2:01 am

Hi, I'm a 23 year old girl who's never been to college(I did the whole get out on my own and job hop sort of thing). Now I'm thinking, well, I'm not going to be able to really do anything I want to do without going. I've thought about it and I think I really want to go now. I'm unemployed and live with my fiance who works, making pretty good money. What I want to know is, is it still possible for me to recieve any kind of financial aid? What I'm thinking is I'll do my core classes at the university center, then transfer to the main university. Oh, and I've recieved 2 scholarships (not for the university, for a tech school and a nursing program) in the past which I ultimately did not use. Will that count against me? How hard would it be for m...

Best College For Performing Arts?

Posted Wednesday June 21 2006, 3:13 pm

Ok so i want to become a singer..singing is my passion. and i've developed new passions for modeling and acting as well..but i dont know the first thing about breaking into the industry. I want to move to NYC after i graduate highschool (most likely in Manhattan..Midtown/Upper West Side) i thought about going to college but i'm not so sure thats the right move. i've even looked at colleges (such as Juilliard) and while Juilliard is nice...they dont offer a course or "major" for singing. The music department is like playing instruments and thats not at all what I want. Does anyone know of any good colleges in NYC? I've never been so i dont know anything about it. and also could someone tell me if college is the right move for what i want to do?

I don't want to go to college

Posted Tuesday June 20 2006, 10:04 pm

I graduated high school back in May and all throughout high school, I never really liked cared for or paid attention in any classes like algebra, physics, pre cal, etc. I'm a pretty smart girl, I just didn't care. I convinced my parents to let me take a semester off before going to college because I really don't want to do. I don't think its right for me. I know I will most likely flunk out because I really don't care about any of those classes that are required.

What I do know is designer, fashion, and clothes. And I know it good. Gucci, Burberry, Fendi, Dior, Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Prada, you name it. Well, I got a job offer at Chanel in the Galleria, here and this is my DREAM job. This is something I want to do and s...

associates degree

Posted Sunday June 18 2006, 9:16 pm

I strongly want to avoid college. So, I researched different degree programs and found that an associates degree is PERFECT for me, so don't try to convince me otherwise, please. Here are my questions:

1) In what area should I specialize in order to get the degree most quickly? I don't like history or social sciences at all (psycology/humanities=NO)
2) Are associates degrees easy and quick to obtain, or is that just what everyone thinks?
3) What good paying jobs are available for people with associate degrees? I already know that you can be a flight attendant, dental assistant, and therapist assistants, but what else is out there?

Thank you SO much. I want to get this degree out of the way really ...

Tertiary education in America?

Posted Wednesday May 24 2006, 10:58 pm

I'm a university student, but not in America, so I'm a bit confused by some of the info mentioned in questions at Advicenators. Also, if I ever study overseas, knowing this in detail will come in handy.

1) Is there a difference between 'college' and 'university' in an American context? (I'm presuming also that 'college' differs from 'vocational college', but is that correct?)

2) What are 'liberal arts' as studied in America? Do they play an important part in a standard university degree?

3) How many years does a general university degree (such as B. Arts) usually last, and in that length of time, how many majors are usually completed?

I already have some preconceptions of American ...
