Something Unconventional...

Posted Thursday May 11 2006, 11:48 pm

22/F

I'm an extremely creative and unique individual and I need some career ideas. I've tried so many different things on I'm getting really discouraged. Nothing seems to "fit". I'm very artistic and thoughtful, I don't want just any old job. I'm not very intersted in going to a 4 year college. I would be interested in going for a 2 year degree. or any type of course work, trade school. But I could change my mind if the right thing came along. I know I don't want to do anything medical or anything related to mathematics, i've ruled that out for sure. This probably sounds ridiculous, but I have no direction and I'm out of ideas. I know I can't live off artwork.

Telephone Interview

Posted Friday April 21 2006, 5:21 pm

I just got an e-mail from a fishing resort in northern Ontario saying that I have a phone interview next Tuesday. I really want this job, but I'm a little worried.

I've never done a phone interview before, so does anyone have any tips on how to ace them? I know the basics, sound friendly etc, but anything that you think would really help me nab the job would be great.

Another question; are there any questions that would be unique to a hospitality job? If anybody has experience being interviewed for hospitality positions (ie. hotel, resort) and could share some interview experiences so that I know what to expect, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you for your help!

thinking on it

Posted Thursday April 20 2006, 10:16 pm

I'm thinking of like starting my own business. I mean I've in 4-H for about 4 years now and I'm 15. I trained both my dogs through it. I'm thinking of maybe putting an ad in my local paper for it. I'm actually pretty good at it to. Last year I got first place in agility and obedience. If I decide to go for this, how much should I charge? I still want to keep it cheap because people could train their own dog or go into puppy classes and actually be taught by an expert. But I still want to make a profit of it but still keep it cheap. How much should i charge weekly

Mom Wont Let Me Work..

Posted Thursday April 20 2006, 8:44 pm

Okay so im 15 years old and i would like to get a job and earn some money. We dont have many job opportunities around here for 15 year olds and McDonalds is pretty much the only place that'll hire 15 year olds. Now the reason i need money is because my parents are broke..i hate spending their money cuz they always complain..so i figured if i got a job i could fix this..the only problem is my mom doesnt want me working at Mcdonalds..and i really dont see any harm in it..alot of my friends work there so its not like i'll be the only one there..i think she is worried most about me gaining more weight from working at a place like that...But is there any way to convince my mom that working at fast food places wont kill me..its not like i plan on...

Searching for a job. . .

Posted Wednesday April 19 2006, 8:43 pm

First of all, I am fifteen years old and will be getting my intermediate license in three months- therefore, I need to buy a car so that I won't have to ride the bus next year to school. In order to buy a car, I of course, need cash. The problem is- I can't find a job. Everywhere that I try to apply, the minimum age limit is sixteen. Does anyone have any ideas about what I could do for money? Please, no ideas including babysitting and cleaning- because I already do both of those. I would very much appreciate the advice, and I will give you a five for good advice.
