Masters degree...where should I take it? Posted Monday August 6 2007, 8:19 pm
I am entering my first year of university at a Canadian university this year. I want to major in International Relations, and go on to take a masters degree in the same subject. I've always had an obsession with Finland--the society, politics, the people--it fascinates me. My dream job would be to be the Canadian ambassador to Finland.
So would it be more beneficial for me to take my masters degree at a Canadian/American university, or at a Finnish one? Which one would help my career more?

Essay Posted Monday August 6 2007, 1:22 pm
I was wondering If I could get some feedback/advice on my college essay. School is out and won't be back till after I apply to some schools so I can't get an english teacher to read it and I think its kind of personal and I would rather not my parents read it. so here it is.. thanks!:
Walking into my child development class, it took less than a few minutes before a child was calling for my attention. These eager to learn, bright-eyed 3 year-olds came in during October to learn from me, and left in May teaching me more than I could ever as for.
Before taking Child-Development, or even before high school, I was very unsure of myself. Looking back, I see my old-self, an awkward pre-teen trying to fit in an...

thinking about switching colleges. Posted Friday August 3 2007, 12:27 am
Okay, so I start this 2-year community college on August 20th. I already applied for financial aide & got it back and got my classes all set.
I'm having doubts now.
I've been wanting to go to this one 4-year university since last year. For some reason, I really want to go there now instead of the 2-year. Is there anyway at all I could somehow switch? It doesn't have to be this semester, I can wait until January for the spring semester. But I would just like to know if I can how would I go about doing this. Thanks.

transferring colleges Posted Tuesday July 31 2007, 2:39 pm
I'm going to a two-year community college this fall. My boyfriend goes to a 4-year college, and he really wants me to go there with him. I had plans on going to the college he's going to before we got together, but its 90 miles away and my mom didn't want me moving so far away by myself. So my question is, if I want to transfer to a four-year college either in January or next fall semester, do you think my school will let me do that? I'd rather transfer there in January because he will be leaving in two weeks for basic training & won't be back til February, so I want to be in college around the same time he comes back. But, I think it would probably be better to wait the school year out and start the 4-year next August. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks! :)

fafsa Posted Monday July 30 2007, 2:08 pm
I filled out a FAFSA & everything, and I've already applied to a college. Its a two year community college, and after that I plan on going to a 4-year university. Tomorrow I go for Freshman Orientation & I start on August 20. But I was wondering how in the world do you get money for college through FAFSA? They keep saying on the website that I'm eligible for this and that, but it doesn't tell me how to get it or apply for it.

For the college people... Posted Thursday July 26 2007, 10:32 am
I'm supposed to head up to my college for freshman orientation on August 16th. I'm really mad because they're forcing all the incoming freshman to do all these activities. It's all mandatory and I DON'T want to do it! Bascially, they make us get there, give us practically an hour to move into the room, and then they're forcing us all on a bus and carting us around town. I'm sorry, but I'm not interested. I'd much rather unpack and then go have fun the next day.
They want us to grow up and meet people on our own, yet they force us to do this stuff.
Anyway, my question, what was your freshman orientation like? What kinds of stuff did you do, if at all? Did it make your move in really stressful?

I will be a senior this coming school year and I need to apply for scholarships and everything. This summer, I've been working at a camp called Wonderland Camp for kids and adults with mental and physical disabilities. Both my mother and father are on social security. I'm in the top 5 percent of my class. I'm also a vegetarian. My family and I also live under the poverty level..
With these that I listed above..what kinda of scholarships and stuff can I apply for to get into college?
Websites and names of scholarships would be so helpful!

APUSH Exam Posted Thursday July 12 2007, 3:18 pm
Last school year I took AP US History at my high school. My final grade was an 87, a B. However, on my AP exam I made a 2. Our teacher told us a 3 was passing but some colleges (like technical colleges) will accept a 2 and the class will count as an elective credit.
I don't really mind if it doesn't count as a credit because it wasn't a history credit anyways, but do you think I'll go through any trouble with colleges that see I only made a 2? I don't want to hurt my chances of getting into a good college. I've never failed a big exam like this. I'm an A/B student and I have at least a 4.0. I'm about to be a senior.
Will my GPA make up for the bad exam grade? I really hope so, because I'm seriously depressed a...
