Boston University? Posted Saturday September 8 2007, 5:14 pm
With pretty crappy grades (half C's, half A's) but a pretty good SAT score, would I be able to get into Boston University? If so, what kind of SAT score would I have to get? Oh, and would I have a shot at NYU, or is that out of the question?? What if I got OUTSTANDING SAT scores? (I guess I kind of know the answer to that question..)
Also, do you know any good schools (obviously not Ivy League, since I'm not a Straight A student...but still a school with a pretty good reputation) in the New Jersey, New York, Massachusets area??
Thank you for any info you can give me!!

Accounting or Business Administration ? Posted Thursday August 30 2007, 6:59 am
I'm in business school and have to choose my major in two weeks. I'm undecided whether I should enter accounting or business administration.
Up until the end of sophomore year(this past year) I had wanted to enter accounting. But I collapsed the last month of the school year and had to stay at home without studying. I recovered 1 week before the final exams. That left me with 1 and 1/2 days only to study each of the eight subjects.
Although I usually do well in both accounting and business administration subjects , i failed the accounting course, it being the 1st exam after my sickness and 1 day not enough to solve most of the problems covered throughout the course.
I've realized over the past years that I usual...

All the way or the easy way? Posted Tuesday August 28 2007, 7:59 pm
I have just begun my freshman year of college. I have 8 years of school ahead of me, four of which will be at med school, considering I can get in.
At my college, they pair you up with a roommate with some of the same interests. Both my roommate and I had plans to be veterinarians. Yesterday, my roommate decided she didn't feel like going to school for 8 years and is going to be just a veterinary technician instead. It shocked me because she is smart, gets wonderful grades, and has an awesome scholarship, only for her to drop out and go to community college! (Nothing against community college, of course.)
I don't really care what my roommate does, it's her life and I hardly know her anyway. Her decision just ma...

I'm a European on the Indian Student Alliance... Posted Tuesday August 28 2007, 7:02 pm
I am a sophomore in college majoring in cultural anthropology and South Asian studies. I want to have a career dealing with South Asian culture so I joined my school's Indian Student Alliance. Because I'm the only European (white person) there, the ISA members are less than welcoming. I attend weekly meetings and try to participate but people avoid talking to me and even laugh about me during meetings. I see them between classes too and they whisper about me when I walk past because they know my face so it affects me every day. It really hurts my feelings. I don't want to quit the ISA but I'm becoming the laughing stock. The ISA is entirely student-run, so there's no adult there to stop the abuse. What should I do? Please help!

I was wondering what you thought of my college essay and how Posted Sunday August 26 2007, 10:41 pm
This my 250 word version of my college essay (its at just under 350 so it does need some more editing) the prompt is talk about a life changing exprience.. and I want to be a teacher.. so i figured my only teaching position would be the best place to start... Do you think this is too much of a "heart warming" essay or do I stick to the point and make it interesting without making anyone feel any big emotion? I was told I am too passive and do not get to the point.. But this is my essay and I was wondering if you could rate it for me on a scale of 1-10 with plenty of advice (especially from those who have been through the application process before). Also this essay is not like my major push to get into schools. All the schools I a...

transferring colleges Posted Saturday August 25 2007, 3:32 pm
I currently attend a two-year community college, and next fall I want to transfer to a four-year college. My school gave me a website for a transfer guide, which is a list of all the classes I have to take to transfer to the four-year. I sent an email to the admissions person at the college I want to attend next year, and they told me that it would be fine to transfer, but that was all they said. Other people said I can transfer next year if I want to.. So my question is, do I really have to go by the transfer guide, or can I just go on and transfer? I am going to try and take as many classes as I can on the guide, but I know I can't take all of them, and I only want to be at the community college for a year. I live in Alabama if that helps...

freshman. :] Posted Friday August 24 2007, 1:46 pm
I'm starting college on Monday and I just wanted to ask a few general questions. I'm going to Penn State McKeesport (aka Greater Allegheny) if that helps.
1. This might sound weird, but how do people normally dress for college? I come from a HS that didn't allow ANYTHING. I don't know if it's different in college. Like, are shorts and tank tops allowed? I'm just wondering.
2. Obviously, I'll have books. Do people usually carry their books, use backpacks, or use just really big purses?
3. I won't know anyone, and I'm not so good at making friends because I'm really really shy, so any pointers for making friends would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance and sorry if the first 2 qu...

RUSH Posted Thursday August 23 2007, 11:04 pm
I'm going to be doing Rush soon, for sororities, and I know one of the rules is no alcohol and no talking to guys during Rush. But, My bf goes to another school and I talk to him everyday on the phone so does that mean I can't talk to him either?
Also, I know what happens during Rush but am I allowed to tell the sorority members that I'm really interested in their sorority or do I wait and see what happens on bid day?

I'm thinking about colleges and Im trying to narrow it down from like a million. Im a junior in highschool and I want a college that balances fun with studies and I want to become a doctor but i dont want to do pre-med, probably something with social sciences. So if you or anyone you know goes to one of these schools could you give me some personal info and feedback about it? Also, feel free to suggest any more based on my likes. thanks!
