URGENT

Posted Wednesday October 31 2007, 7:36 pm

in case anyone knows this answer..

COLLEGE APPS: If the ED postmark/electronic submission deadline is November 1st, what does that mean?
Does it mean 11:59 p.m. on Oct 31st or 11:59 p.m. on Nov 1st? I mean, can I send the day of Nov 1st? Like is the deadline including Nov 1st, not by Nov 1st?

This is for Johns Hopkins University.

I am using their online application.

Typo on college app..

Posted Wednesday October 31 2007, 4:08 pm

I was filling out college applications and I finally was able to send a few in.
I noticed yesterday that on one of the applications I made a typo on my Social Security Number. For example, say my SS# was 123456789, I had accidentally typed 123457689.
Is this something I should rectify immediately or wait until whether or not I get accepted and choose to go there. I already know that if I get accepted then that is the college I'm choosing.
If I should do this now then how should I contact them to let them know? Should I do it through e-mail, phone call, in person? The college is about 2 hours away so it would be really hard to get up there and speak with somebody...

Anyway, I was wondering what I should do...

Financial aid and scholarships.

Posted Sunday October 28 2007, 6:02 pm

I am a senior in high school and I'm trying to prepare for college. I already know that I want to attend ASU if I get accepted (I have back up schools ready though). I want to go for education (high school math). I'm looking for websites with scholarships I can apply for or any financial aid information. ASU costs a little less than $10,000 per year and I am paying for college myself - no parental help.
I'm already a member of college board, fastweb, and cfnc.org. I live in NC if that helps. My gpa is a 3.3 and will more than likely go up by the end of senior year. I'm an honors student (english, math, history) and I'm in Multi-Culture club and Interact club. I was in FCCLA for about a year and a half. The only club I'm an officer in...

College, HELP!

Posted Sunday October 28 2007, 2:21 pm

I'm in 12th grade and am applying to colleges. But I feel like I ruined my chances at getting into my top 3 choices: Brown, UCBerkley, NYU.
So in 10th grade I had a GPA of 4.0
In 11th grade I had a 4.4.
And so far I have a 4.4 in 12th grade.
HOWEVER, in 9th grade I only got a 3.5 GPA.
Did I ruin my chances of getting into those schools?

I recieved a 2150 on my SAT, a 30 on my ACT, I scored perfect on my US History subject test and perfect on my French/with listening SAT subject test.

Please tell me, did I ruin my chances with my 9th grade GPA????

minors/sororities

Posted Friday October 26 2007, 10:55 pm

Ok, I have two questions about college. One, can you do anything with a minor? If not, then what is the purpose?

Two: If you pledge a sorority and are accepted, then does that mean you HAVE to live in its house??

GPA/SAT

Posted Thursday October 25 2007, 8:43 pm

I have several questions, you don't have to answer all of them just as many as you know the answer to.
-------------
1. What was your average GPA's/SAT score when applying and getting into any of the UC schools, NYU, Brown, Oxford University, USC, any well known ones really.

2. If you got into one of the schools above or another great school like them, were you in Honors class or took AP classes?

3. What is the best SAT prep guide? I have the GuidesParadise one already, I hear good things about it.

THANKS!

Pre-law

Posted Thursday October 25 2007, 5:50 am

Alright, so the way I see it.. you can just go to any average university and get really high grades (both GPA and LSAT) and then apply to a really goood law-school and you have a high shot at a good future as a lawyer?! Am I right? Or is it actually really important that you get into a GREAT Ivy League university (like Harvard) to begin with?? What I'm asking I guess is - If I go to a regular university (where people who got in had an average of 3.4 GPA) do I have a shot at being a lawyer? Or am I screwed cause I didnt get into any of the good universities?

This is my future here, so I ask you to not answer this question unless you really know what you're talking about! Thank you.

Please don't advise me to talk...

Roommate Struggles, self injury

Posted Wednesday October 24 2007, 9:12 am

It's my freshman year of university and I picked a random roommate because I don't know anyone else at the school. I like her and we get along great, but we're not best friends or anything and we rarely hang out outside of our room. Anyway, my friend and I decided we would like to room together next year, because we are a lot a like in our schedules and we get along really well and have a lot of fun together. This is great except that recently she's been having some tough times and she's started to self-injure. She calls me sometimes late at night crying because her roommate isn't back and she's all alone. I've had her call her family and she's getting therapy, but I want to know if this will make things harder to be roommates next year. Sh...

Posted Tuesday October 23 2007, 10:18 pm

Maybe this is a dumb question, and I know I'm definitely a super-impatient person, but how long does it normally take for you to get your letter of acceptance or declination from a college or university after applying?!

thanks!
