Los Angeles

Anyone live out there?

My boyfriend and I plan on moving out there right after we graduate high school but there's a lot of things i'd like to know about it!

First he knows about some program where if you've lived out there for 6 months commuity college is paid for by the government. Tell me more?

Will it be hard for me to find an office job out there?

What's the driving like? Traffic?

Will I be able to find affordable clothes and stuff?

We're probably moving to the Met Lofts. Know anything about them or that area?

Are there things like food stamps and wellfare checks?

ANYTHING ELSE YOU CAN TELL ME! I'D LIKE TO HEAR EVERYTHING.

Not liking school

Posted Sunday September 21 2008, 12:26 pm

I go to a small catholic school in indiana. I play volleyball for the school. I'm a freshmen, and im really starting to not like this school at all. almost everyone lives close so they go home almost every weekend, but i like 4 hours away and I don't have a car so im always stuck here.

I was wondering if its possible, and what the chances are of transferring to a new school next year, a bigger one, and playing a sport.

And how should I go about telling my parents about this? I don't want to let them down, and I do have a large scholarship for volleyball to this school. but i'm really just not happy here.

Cosmetology

Posted Tuesday September 16 2008, 8:40 pm

I was thinking about going to an Aveda Institute for cosmetology school (either Milwaukee, WI or Minneapolis, MN) in the Fall of 2009. I have a few questions.

1. How old do you have to be? I heard that some places you only have to be 16 years old, thats crazy. (I'll be 18 or 19)

2. If you get your cosmetology license in a specific state, does that mean you are required to be a stylist in that state only?

President

For a research paper I'm doing, Who are you voting for and why? (if your not old enought to vote but would if you could- same question applies)

My example:
I am choosing Mccain. He represents almost everything I stand for. I think Sarah Palin would be a great vice too. She believes abortions shouldnt be done so freely without a good reason (mothers life in jeoperady, incest..etc) Also, Obama was quoted saying "The war in Iraq was a mistake" saying that, I feel was disrespectful to everyone who has faught and died in freedom's honor.

Thanks to everyone who helps!!

Law or Medical Science?

Posted Thursday September 11 2008, 2:37 pm

I'm thinking of trying to get into Oxford or Cambridge University and I'm confused about which course to take.

I could take Law, but I don't know if this is interesting. I know I'd probably be good at it and I like the thought of being a barrister, and I know its highly paid. I only need three good As and I know I can get more at my A levels than that, in any subjects.

But then there's medical science. I need chemistry as a priority grade and or biology maths or physics. I take biology and maths as I enjoy them. I hate chemistry. It holds little joy for me, and whereas I find I can do well at the others with little effort and very will with lots of effort, I have to try extra hard to even immerse myse...

college classes.

Posted Wednesday September 10 2008, 4:10 pm

im a senior in high school and im soo confused about college. i've always been under the impression that you take the 4 core classes just like you do in high school, and then go on to study in your major. but like my teacher this year said in college he didnt have to take math because he was an english major and didnt need it. im going in to the medical field, so since that focuses on math and science, would i have to take english or history still? would there be any way to exempt these classes?? please only answer if you're in or been to college and know for sure.

Missing too much school

Posted Wednesday September 10 2008, 9:35 am

Hey there.
I'm an 18 yo Female! : )

Basically school started on August 25th, and I've already missed 4 classes in a row in the past 2 weeks. Last week I had a cold and my doctor said I was too sick to go to school, and this week I had pink eye. so I've had to stay off.

Tomorrow's going to be the 4th day of class I've missed. I've been e-mailing my teachers letting them know what's going on. I just don't want to be completely lost when I go back to class, I've been keeping up with the work.

Do yall think there's anything else I should do? I don't want them to think I'm skipping.

ROTC

Posted Tuesday September 2 2008, 9:00 pm

I am 16/f and I am considering applying for an ROTC scholarship in college. I am hesitant to apply, however, because after I graduate from college I am obligated to serve 4 years (which could be part-time) and I could still take a civilian job but I really would not want to be sent to war. But I am looking for ways to help pay for college and millitary experience looks excellent on any resume. I really dont know what I should do. So if you could tell me your opinions, ideas, likes/dislikes, or just anything that comes to mind I would be so greatful!

Posted Tuesday September 2 2008, 3:28 pm

17, ENGLAND

I am a Travel & Tourism student in college, and I have been set an assignment on promotional materials.

The assignment is to choose a Kent attraction and find out as much as possible about it and the way the organisation markets itself.

I am having a really hard time understanding the questions..

I chose Hever castle.

I need to investigate:

- What products and services this organisation sells.

- What type of promotions do they use and why they are appropriate?

- How do they meet their customers needs?

I am having a really hard time with this, can anybody explain the questions and give me ideas on what to write about for each of them?

Ultrasound Technology/Sonography

Posted Saturday August 30 2008, 2:22 pm

I'm wanting to be an Ultrasound Technician. I've done my research, and know what's required to become one, but my problem is I don't know which college I need to go to.

I'm supposed to complete an accredited vocational or community college 2 year degree program for Ultrasound Technology. I live close to 2 community colleges and a vocational school. Lonesome Pine Community College no longer has the Sonography program, so I can't go there. I'm pretty positve the vocational school doesn't have the classes I need either. Mountain Empire is another college I live close enough to go to, but I'm not sure if they have the program I need either. I've looked in their book of programs and classes they offer, and couldn't find it. But I...
