My friends step mom works with the air port, so we will get a little discount on our tickets, but I still need about 400$. My questions are how do places choose who they hire? And what ideas for a job do you have? I'v put it in at food places and stores. I really need a job =[

KPMG Assessment day Posted Wednesday March 12 2008, 1:03 pm
Hi, I recently applied for an AAT accounting apprenticeship course for auditing at KPMG, I have made it past the application process, tests, and first round interview. However the last stage is an assessment day, part of this I have to give a 10 minute presentation on a certain business, showing how it can be improved.
presentation should include:
A very brief overview of the organisation,
How they can expand/further develop their business,
The advice that you would give to this organisation to ensure successful development of their business, and why.
Could some one please give me any advice on what business to chose and what to say, I don't have any experience in business and an...

Careers In Michigan Posted Tuesday March 4 2008, 8:11 pm
Hi, this questions is mainly for people who are in Michigan.
I live in Southfield Michigan. I have been looking for a good job now for about a year and a 1/2. The thing is that I am 24 I have an apartment, I really need to bring in about $1500+ a month to do everything I need to do. I have experience working in offices, but mostly in restaurants. I was a server for about 2 years and some months. I am used to making $100 a night or more and so 7.50 for 3 hours a day is pretty awkward. I am greatful for my job cause it is relaxed and I get along with everyone, but I would like to have another place, that is wholesome (which means no strip clubs) and has good pay, that will give me a chance and treat me well. I am a good worker, I alwa...

Application Posted Monday March 3 2008, 11:54 am
Would it be acceptable to attach a small letter to a job application?
I wrote a small letter explaining that I was interested in working during the summer since I am attending college. I already put on the application that I cannot start until May, but I felt the need to explain my current situation of not being at home, but I will be in a couple months.
Would it be more appropriate to just wait for them to contact me?

Career? Posted Wednesday February 27 2008, 1:47 pm
I'm 16 and a sophomore in high school. I know I have tons of time and everything, I just really want to figure out what I want to do as a career. I don't want to go into college having no idea what I'm going to do with the rest of my life.
I want a career where I could help people. I really want to go into social work, but they don't make much. The average is about $40,000 a year, plus you need a masters in social work, so that's about 6 years in college, and making that kind of money, it's not totally worth it. Plus, it's extremely heart breaking. But social work isn't totally out of the picture.
I've also thought about becoming a nurse. I'm not too good at science and math. Do you have to be really good at those to become a...

History Posted Wednesday February 20 2008, 9:02 pm
Are there any potential jobs which deal with history? In school I love to learn about history and religion and political happenings. I wouldn't especially love to be a history teacher, but I'm not sure what other kinds of jobs are available.
Thanks !

Job Questions Posted Monday February 18 2008, 10:58 pm
I am very confused. =] Any help is appreciated!
1) What is the mininum wage now?
2) What kind of jobs can one get whose salary goes beyond the minimum wage (lifeguarding, etc)? Only jobs with training or can entry-level newbies do anything?
3) What kind of jobs are open to 16+ college bound persons?
4) It would probably be better to get a job I would have a greater chance of landing a job if it were "full time"? So that means working over the summer as opposed to weekends during the school year, right? How many work hours would that average per week approximately?
5) How does the process work? I go in, ask for an application, fill it out, hand it back and w...

getting a job but got arrested Posted Friday February 15 2008, 6:41 pm
so im 16 now but way back in the day when i was a bad kid, i used to steal and i got caught when i was 12. so i think i got arrested.. i was put in handcuffs and got driven to the police station and was put in a cell.. i also had to take those pictures of your face and the side. so i had to go to court and everything and i think they told me that in about a year or 2 i could call in and clear my record but i just did and they said i had to go through all these steps. but anyways. today i went to fill out a job application and i said no of ever being convicted. so basically my question is: is stealing considered conviction or no?
