college interviews [aah!] Posted Friday January 16 2009, 8:55 am
I have an interview with Yale this Sunday, and I am EXTREMELY nervous. We agreed on a starbucks 20 minutes from my house, and I thought I was going to have to go all the way to Yale university, but I guessed wrong. Anyway, she told me it would be good if I took a sheet of all my activities and leadership roles, which is a very short list. I also have a Harvard interview next week, also at a nearby cafe [I've never been to either]. I'm always worried about the who's-gonna-pay-the-bill situation, so I'm planning on not eating anything. I don't know how I should dress, what to wear, should I wear makeup, and what will they ask me?! I'm not very far from passing out, I don't even know how I got myself into this mess. They're going to hate me. O...

College? Posted Friday January 9 2009, 9:45 pm
I'm not sure if I want to go into engineering or singing; I'm interested in choral singing and chemical engineering. I get As and have been in my All State chorus. I think I'd like to go to Cornell, but I'm not so sure about the quality of their choral program. On the other hand, Rider is a is also a top choice for me because of Westminister, but I'm not sure about their engineering program. Is there any school that has a good choral and engineering program?

joining the navy nursing program Posted Sunday January 4 2009, 3:44 pm
I'm seriously considering the NROTC program when I'm finished high school in 2010 (I'm a junior now). I've already checked the Navy website and understand what comes with the position. I was wondering if anyone has any personal experience with the program that would recommend it? And when should I stop by a navy recruiting office to get information? I'm 16 going on 17 in March.
I'm a also little worried that I might not be fully prepared for nursing (dealing with blood, needles, etc) though I have had personal experience being around them. Is it easy to get accustomed to? Is it possible that I could shadow a nurse or there is a program where high school students are allowed to do that? Thank you :)

Marching Bands Posted Friday December 26 2008, 11:02 pm
I am a junior in high school in Virginia and my GPA currently is a 4.3. I have decided that I would like to attend a small but prestigious university with strong chemical-engineering and music programs. My favorite high school activity is marching band. However, most of the private universities have scatter bands instead of real marching bands. If I love marching band, should I deter select colleges like U of C and Harvard from my application list just because they do not have true marching bands? If you have any suggestions of universities and colleges that you think my description fits, it would be appreciated. Thanks!

No motivation to study Posted Sunday December 21 2008, 4:03 am
I'm extremely behind in my studies, my exams are just around the corner, and I don't have any motivation to study. I've tried many things to stay motivated , but nothing works.
I'm also extremely slow. When i have off, and do study, i wind up spending the whole day having studied just one lecture. With this rate , I'm not going to be able to pass the year. I've alreay lost many years due to switching majors, so I really don't need to lose anymore.
I think my problem is that anything ,and I mean anything distracts me. Say i'm studying. Then after a while, i'll stop studying and just stare at the page and re-read the lines over and over without actually absorbing what I've read. I even just stop studying for long p...

College Posted Wednesday December 17 2008, 12:39 am

I'm in high school now and lots of people are talking about college. I want to go to college and I know lots of people start thinking about it when they are freshman. The thing is I want to do good in life and stuff but I don't believe I can do it. I don't get the best grades, honestly. In Biology I have a D. So that brought me down more to where I think I can't go to a college because they look at C's or better. That's the only low grade I have but its Biology. The rest of my classes are average classes. I don't know if I can do it and I feel really pressured but I want to. I am just confused. I don't know what I want and what to do with my life. Thanks for your help.

Also, can I become a Crime Scene Investigator if I take two years of criminal justice and then 2 years of forensic science? Someone PLEASE help me differentiate. I really appreciate it!!

Unversity course levels and credits. Posted Monday December 1 2008, 5:20 pm
At universities the course numbers of your classes are in the 100s, the 200s, the 300s, etc. and a 100 level class (ie. Psych 101) is the easiest level and they get harder and harder by level. I'm assuming most universities do it some way simliar to this? Well, the university i go to requires that in order to graduate, a certain amount of your credits have to be from 300 level classes. I'm kind of worried that those classes will be super hard and having to take a bunch of them might be a problem. So, what i'm wondering is if this is pretty common among grad. requirements at most universities, or if this is just something mine does. I know some probably do and some probably don't and not all universities are the same, but i'm wondering if a ...

What should I be? Posted Sunday November 30 2008, 11:32 pm
I'm a freshman in college, and my first semester is coming to a close soon. My major right now is Biomedical Science, which is going to lead me to Physical Therapy for grad school (because my university doesn't offer a physical therpy program).
The thing is- I'm not good at science. I can grasp concepts, but I can never get the details. I do want to be a physical therapist, but I just don't think I can handle all the science classes. I'm currently squeaking by my chemistry and biology classes with C's, which is jsut uncceptable. I am much better at English/reading type stuff. English classes are a breeze for me. So, I'm thinking about changing my major/career.
I think I'd like Journalism or something related to...
