Unpaid Debt Posted Wednesday May 19 2004, 11:02 pm
My girlfriend was without a job, money, place to live a year ago. She asked me to help her and I found her a place to live, and loaned her money. I even bought her a cell phone she said she needed to find jobs. I signed a contract with Sprint in my name and paid all the bills which she promised to repaid me after finding a job. Now she has a job and makes good money but doesn't want to pay me back. I called her asking for my money and she insults me, hangs-up and lies that she dosen't have the money. Meanwhile, she's buying new clothes, ect. HOW CAN I MAKE HER PAY ME BACK???

We can't even afford a moblile home Posted Tuesday May 4 2004, 12:29 pm
My husband and I live in Southern California and it's so expensive to live here. I don't want to move to another state because I would miss my family. We live in a small noisy city that is not so great but not terrible either. We would like to move to a better neighborhood. Our 2-bedroom is fine for us and our daughter who is almost 5 but we are thinking about having another child, and would like our kids to have separate rooms. Also, this street is very noisy. We went last night to look at a mobile home. It was nice and it even came with beautiful furniture. It wasn't as small as my husband thought it would be, but the bedrooms were kind of small. But after talking to the realtor, he found out that the rent on the space plus the loan payme...

Pay off house or cars ? Posted Thursday April 1 2004, 6:54 pm
We have enough money to pay off two car notes, but only half enough to pay into the house. Is it better to pay off the cars and in turn use that money each month to pay off the house, or pay down on the house. Our interest rates are low on all expenses.

records Posted Saturday February 28 2004, 3:39 pm
So I've been doing my taxes and looking over all these papers I have, which is a LOT. I've got bank statements and credit card bills and cable bills and all this old stuff that's been paid and taken care of but that I kept anyway, just because it seemed like a good idea. Do most people keep all this stuff? For how long? I've got copies of old bills from 1998, I know I've got to throw somethings out here.

I bought a car in Feb.of 03,at the end of Feb. I had to have knee surgery which I knew i was going to have to do at the time I bought the car. When I bought the car I also bought insurance that would pay my payments if I was disabled. I couldnt use the insurance for my knee because it was a prior condition. In november I had to have back surgery. I tryed to use the insurance becauce of my back surgery but I was not eligible because of my knee,so I get a refund of the amount of the insurance that I was told would go toward my payments, once they received my refund they told me that it would not go for my payments at this time im two months behind so I told them I would make the payments the same night it gets repoed. The repo man told me that ...

I just got accepted into a summer program in Europe where I have to raise roughly $5000 to go. I have a part time job. I have written letters to businesses and area politicians asking for monatary support, and I think I'm going to ask the local Krispy Kreme for a fundraiser that I can do. Any ideas how I can get more money before June 1?

Debt Posted Sunday January 18 2004, 12:07 pm
I have a lot of debt (long story) including some that are now on my credit report. I am near bankruptcy, although I am not seriously considering it at this time.
I was wondering, if I had extra money to pay off debts, which should come first?
Current credit card debts - because the average interest is about 20%
Student loans - although the interest is low (around 5%) this can never be included in bankruptcy.
Car loans - although the interest is lower than credit cards, your car can be reposessed and a car is essential if you want to be employed.
Bad debts on the credit report - they have given up trying to get me to pay. If I pay these, my credit rating will improve...

savings Posted Monday October 27 2003, 11:25 pm
I have a savings account that pays like 2% interest and a car loan that's costing me 6% interest. Obviously I'm not coming out ahead. I'm at the point now where I could basically empty my savings account into my car loan and be even all around, but I'm afraid to live life without that "safety cushion" of money in savings. How much should I have in savings in case something awful happens, like I lose my job? Is there a rule of thumb or is it just whatever I'm comfortable with?

health care system choice Posted Wednesday October 22 2003, 7:10 pm
I just got a new job and the health care system is weird. I can choose to either pay $30 a month or $15 a month. If I pay $30 a month, the company pays for all my health care over $1600, if I spend more than that in the year. If I pay $15 a month, the company doesn't start paying until after $2800. I'm healthy and don't think I'll need more than $1600 for the year, so I think I might go with the cheap plan and save on my monthly payments. But I'll be screwed if something happens to me, like I fall off a bridge and need $4000 surgery, because I'll have to spend $2800 total instead of $1600. What would you do?
