acting.

Posted Friday September 1 2006, 2:31 am

hey. i am looking to get into acting, but i need some answers to a couple questions as soon as possible. all help is appreciated.

-first off, as for an audition, your agent gets you those, right? what happens at an audtition?

-as for an agent, how do you get one? my friends mom said you have to write the agency a letter saying why they should represent you included with a headshot and resume. is that true?

-as for a resume, what if i have no prior experience? what do i put on the resume?

-honestly, how hard is it? like, what are your chances of getting a part?

thanks soo much, i'm hoping someone who has been through this will be able to reply, but if you haven't and know about it that works too =].

English Accent

Posted Tuesday August 29 2006, 12:21 pm

What is the type of English accent that is used in the Peter Pan movies? Cockney? Also, if you know which one it is-is there a good site that would tell me the characteristics of it and how to speak it?

Auditions

Posted Sunday August 27 2006, 11:09 pm

I'm auditioning for a musical (Throughly Modern Millie) and I have a few questions.

It says my song should be 24-32 bars long. How long in that in minutes/seconds?

Does anyone have any tips for singing? (I can't afford a voice teacher.)

I'm thinking about singing "If you got it, flaunt it" from The Producers. If I do, should I sing it with the accent? (If I don't, I'll sing "What I Did For Love" from A Chorus Line".)

Thanks.

If you know the song "Astonishing" from Little Women, then I'd love for you to give your input. I'm auditioning for drama club with that and since it's not the shortest song ever made I need specific tips on how to keep the interest of the audience.

Drama Club!!

Posted Friday August 18 2006, 6:13 pm

I'm trying out for a play and I'm doing a real cute song that needs dance moves to go along with it. I'm not a dancer and don't have the best technique, so if anyone knows of a site with pictures or videos or could give me a direct link I'd be so grateful! Also, I'm still in search of a monologue and a Soprano song just as a back-up. I'm a 15 year-old female.

Audition song & Monologue

Posted Wednesday August 16 2006, 7:54 pm

I'm trying out for a musical. It's going to be Peter Pan. I'm a Soprano, but I can also sing low. Just any song that comes to mind and would be similiar to the music in this play-list off for me. I'd prefer for them not to be so common, but I'd appreciate anything. No matter the range, I'm willing to try it out. I really like wishful songs-ballads.Also, if anyone knows of a site that has monologues from plays that are about one minute long, you'd be a lifesaver!!

I'm an okay actress...

Posted Tuesday August 15 2006, 7:43 pm

Okay, I'm a pretty good actress when I'm around people I know. But I'm shy! UGH! The worst thing you can be when you want to be an actress. When I get up in front of someone I don't know I freeze up and I suck. Can anyone help me come out of my shell? Anyone been through what I'm going through as far as shyness taking over your dreams? Thanks!
