decision on work

Posted Monday September 1 2008, 7:26 am

I have been offered a position and accepted it out of state and need to start tomorrow. the problem is 1 day after i accpeted the position my collegue calls and tells me of a position that is a sure thing for me when i contact the owner of the business. it would be substantially more money and a better opportunity than the 1st offer. i contacted the owner and he was in process of a business deal and would call me back that was friday eve at 6:pm i waited and no call, i should leave tomorrow for the other position in oregon. do i delay the 1st offer,(who has accomodations set for me until the 15th) do i go and if the other offer comes up just leave the 1st one?

H&M Interview

Posted Friday August 22 2008, 1:22 pm

I have an interview at H&M on Sunday and I am undecided on what would be best to wear. Would it be more appropriate to wear smart clothes (e.g. black skirt, white blouse etc) or slightly 'edgier' more fashionable clothes considering it is a fashion chain? Would they be more impressed if I wore their own clothes?

Additionally, has anyone had an interview with them before? What kind of questions do they ask?

Any advice/tips would be appreciated.

Proper Protocol?

Posted Wednesday August 20 2008, 3:30 pm

Hey all,

Ok so in my desperate search for a job this summer, I put my resume online through careerbuilder.com to see if I could find any jobs, which of course I did not for most of the summer. Up until now. Occasionally I'd get e-mails but everyplace so far has either been really out of the way or not what I'm looking for.

Well this morning I got a voicemail from a company who was interested in my resume. They want me to call back to set up an interview, but there's a few problems:

1.) I don't know what kind of job it is, the person on the phone didn't really specify. He said the name of the company, but I couldn't understand it that well and I tried searching it online but couldn't really come u...

types of nurses?

Posted Tuesday August 19 2008, 6:21 pm

Since I was small I've always wanted to become a nurse and then it hit me when someone asked me what TYPE of nurse! I mean, I always just aimed to be a nurse and I totally forgot that there were tons of different kinds!

Could someone please list as many different types of nurses as they can and tell me what each kind does, and if possible, the needed education please? Thank you.

What should :I do???

Posted Monday August 18 2008, 9:47 pm

Okay i'm going into eleventh grade, and I feel like I should sorta kinda know what im gonna do as a career, or at least how to start off in college or something. So as some background info, I have ALWAYS wanted to do something with medicine. And children. Like pediatrician. But then, as I got older I started thinking about school, and the pressure of being a doctor and everything. So I started leaning towards child psychologist. I have always been very interested in understanding the development and thinking of the child. But on the other hand I really really want to HELP children, and I've heard that pyschologists can't really do that. So im thinking, is there anything else sort of like this that I can do that doesnt even have anything to ...

social anxiety at its best

Posted Friday August 15 2008, 3:08 am

I've some-what recently turned 16, and my mom has been on my heels about getting a job. I'm not much of a slacker, mind you, but I have a HUGE problem with communicating with strangers. I've been shy all my life, but not until recently have I grown more uncomfortable in my skin (in a non-superficial way). I have a very inconstant mood that likes to sway at it's own free will. This basically makes me retreat from anyone and everyone, and is another annoying factor I have to take account for. So, I was wondering, If you knew any type of job(s) I could apply for that wouldn't involve so many...people. Fast food and the movie theatre are DEFINITELY out of the question + answer. I doubt this will help much, but I live in the state of Washington....

Being an extra in a movie?

Posted Thursday August 7 2008, 11:28 pm

Would it be worth it to spend $40 dollars to get to New York to take this job as an extra? I'd get paid $150+ per day. but extras usually have very long hours. Also, I'm 16 so I'm starting school soon (September) where I probably can't do it other than Saturdays and Sundays...

Online Work? Work from Home? Blogging? I NEED MONEY!

Posted Monday August 4 2008, 6:38 pm

Ok so I'm just about as broke as you can get and I'm sick of it. Now I've applied at quite a few places (some even multiple times) and I've had no luck. Soo I'm starting to get a little desperate. I'm aware that my lack of a license and job experience (I've had one prior job - a good one but nonetheless) limits my options, so I've been wondering if anyone knows any ACTUAL and GOOD online jobs? Like, any work from home opportunities that are legit and pay (doesn't have to pay much just some $$ would be nice) or any job opportunities in blogging. And on that note, what kind of experience must one have to apply for a job professionally blogging? I tried applying for one but go no response.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you :-)
