What career should I pursue? Join the Army or Air Force for scholarships? Posted Monday June 15 2009, 2:55 pm
I'm 17 years old currently going into my Senior year in High School. I come from a low income family and I was thinking of joining the army for college scholarships. I love math and science, especially chemistry. I'm scared for student loans and was planning on going on the path to becoming a doctor because I love helping people, but the cost of medical school is too costly. I don't like English much, but reading is fun when it has to do with learning anything I'm focused on. I'm really considering the Air Force or Army at this point due to our economic crisis right now. Please any tips or sources of scholarships will help. Thank you all.
PS: My classes next year will be English 4, Economy/Government, Calculus AB, Physics, Fr...

Good Start for College Posted Friday June 12 2009, 6:58 pm
18/Female/United States
When I was in middle and high school, I didn't get the best jumping off point to start college and a good career. I tried really hard towards the end of high school, but I only ended up what a cumulative GPA of 2.76
I have taken 3 college credit courses already, and received an A in all three classes. I took English 111, English 112, and Basic Computing Skills. I am very proud of my 4.0 GPA, and I would love to keep up the good work in college. I think it's better to try later than never.
Anyways, these classes weren't that challenging to me, because computer classes are easy and Enlgish is my strong point. Plus the teacher was easy, it was an online course.

What to expect at college Posted Friday June 12 2009, 2:08 am
I will be going college this fall and I'm really nervous about it. Obviously I am going to be a college freshman. I've heard so many things about college though that makes me really uneasy. I want to go into college prepared, of course.
So, what can I expect at college? I guess it must be a lot different than high school but in what ways? Do I need to do or bring anything special to college?
Any info please!!!!

Survey of World Literature Posted Tuesday June 2 2009, 6:16 pm
18/F
I am starting college this fall, and I filled out my schedule today. I have thought seriously about majoring in English, so my advisor suggested an online class called "Survey of World Literature" Part 1 of 2. AKA: English 251.
I took English 111 & 112 in high school through the Dual Enrollment program, and those were the 2 prerequisites for the class. I received an A in both courses, so I was confident that I was going to do well. However after looking at some online course syllabus's I found, I am a little less sure. I didn't recognize any of the works shown on some of the professor's lists, So now I am freaking out.
I'm just looking for any sort of reassurance or tips for t...

Should I stay or go? Commute or live on campus? Posted Sunday May 31 2009, 2:46 am
Okay, I am approaching the time when I must transfer from my community college to a university. I can't decided whether I should attend UHD (which is strictly a communter college, and cheaper than the other university I am about to list. Also has small class sizes but it is an open admissions university).
The other school I am considering is Sam Houston State University. It is located in Huntsville, TX (which is like 2-3 hrs from my home), more than likely I'd have to live on campus, and it costs more than UHD (duh). So yeah, here's what I am thinkin....
1) I don't like driving. (Especially Downtown.... WOW and UHD is like 40 mins to an hour depending on traffic which can get bad on I10)
2) I hav...

Conditional offers Posted Tuesday May 19 2009, 8:43 pm
Hi :),
so I received a conditional offer from a university (Waterloo to be exact-- I live in Canada lol), and right now I am quite sure that I cannot maintain a 75% average because my biology mark is lowering my average, and really-- my last semester mark was a 74% because of math lol.
I was wondering if universities would accept averages slightly below the conditional offer or should I consider retaking biology (since it's a prerequisite) in summer school?
I have never taken summer school, so I'm also wondering how would I send over the transcript and is it everyday or some days of the week?
Thank you :)

Richard Stockton College Posted Tuesday May 5 2009, 7:53 pm
It's in New Jersey. Is it a good pre-med college? I would like to become a dermatologist. Where is it ranked in comparison to other universities in the nation? Like how Harvards number one, where is Richard Stockton, and what does it take to get in? How much is tuition and is it in a safe neighborhood? My brothers are in universities in the top 50 and I don't want to go to a college unless its a good one, at least in the field I want. Thanks soo much.

I'm applying to colleges right now, and I want Psychology as a major. I intend to be a psychologist for younger children .
So, which major would I select from the drop-down list? There are three choices and I know it's not Forensic Psychology.
It would either be Community Clinical - BA Psychology or General - BA Psychology.
Sorry, that just confuses me. Any hepl would be appreciated! Thank you.

University Decisions Posted Tuesday April 28 2009, 1:37 am
I have like a day to chose which university to accept and it is totally freaking me out. I got into some pretty good schools so I should be happy, but instead every time I think about next year I start crying.
It's gotten to the point where I'm worrying about everything and anything.
First of all, I really like visual art and want to make it into a career somehow, but am not sure I like design. I am wondering if I should go to an art school where I can find this out, or go to a more general university where I can explore other options that I know I like (ie liberal art courses I am interested in, like studies in gender, feminism, labour laws, ect.). Another option I had thought about was doing theatre design/b...
