Posted Thursday November 30 2006, 8:22 pm

my friend and i who go to a small catholic school and are at the top (8th grade) of the school want to plan a talent show. we love theatre and things but we need permission from our principal, a strict nun. we used to hav talent shows each year, until 3rd grade. she held auditions for one in 5th grade, and i got in, but it nevr happened. my frend and i think that if she put my friend and i (who organized people in our class to make movies and things) in charge, we can DO IT!
any tips on gettin her to say yes and makin it successful?

Monologue Assistance

Posted Sunday November 26 2006, 9:07 am

I'm a 15/F who will be auditioning for a Disney Musical (Newsies) in January. I need monologue assistance. If anyone knows a good one with a New York accent in the dialect of slang I'd love to have it. If you could please revise it, so that it could easily be pronounced. Ex. If I wanted to say "another" with that accent, I'd like it typed out "anoda". Thank you for those who respond.

Emotion but no memorization

Posted Friday November 24 2006, 10:10 pm

I love acting, drama, and getting the moods. I love placing myself in the position of a chracter. But I cannot remember my lines! I freeze, I switch words, I mispronounce, I totally screw up! What one earth is wrong with me and what are some ways besides just reading them more... That doesn't help. I've even tried learning them as song lyrics... that doesn't help. I'm so doomed!

Aspiring actress... sort of

Posted Friday November 24 2006, 9:56 pm

14/f
I really want to learn to be an actress, even if it's just to see if I have what it takes. I would love to attend some sort of school for it or something, but I live in the middle of nowhere. Mom would never let me go to California or anywhere where all the good acting oppurtunies are. So how am I supposed to "follow my dreams"?

Musical

Posted Monday November 20 2006, 6:16 pm

I am in the musical Annie, for my school. I have recieved the large part of Grace Farell. As you know, she has one important song to sing; I Think Im Gonna Like It Here.

I love singing, and acting, but i have a problem with nerves before shows.

What are ways to bring those down [ and i mean my nerves go insane! ]?

Thanks in advance.

Ballad song needed for mezzo-y alto.

Posted Wednesday November 15 2006, 6:52 pm

Our drama teacher just switched our musical on us from Anything Goes to Merrily We Roll Along. Because of their almost complete polarity, I now need a different song. I'm alto-second-soprano-ish. I don't know my exact range which I know makes this more difficult. My teacher suggested another ballad by Stephen Sondheim. So. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

A certain type of piano music?

Posted Wednesday November 15 2006, 3:44 pm

So for my school talent show, I was thinking about singing a song while playing the song on piano. I was considering doing the song "Cruz" by Christina Aguilera. So, I went on musicnotes.com because that's where I usually get most of my piano music. But, every type of sheet music I could buy that was for the song "Cruz" had the song melody (the singing part) in the piano score. I'd prefer it if the piano music was just the accompaniment part. For example, if you listen to the song on Christina Aguilera's CD, there is a separate piano part and she is singing, and that's the kind of music I want. The trouble is, I've been searching for it and all of the piano books and sheet music I've looked in don't have that kind of mus...

Unfair chance.

I absolutely love to act. whenever we'd do something that needed acting, i'd always be first to raise my hand, and sometimes i'd fool around with it too for jokes and stuff. Well, I dont really have much experience, and I'm 13 years old. (and a girl.) My school only had chorus (which I did) till our intermediate school, 5th and 6th grade, which had drama club. i tryed out for drama club, and it had been my dream, ever since i saw the 2 plays my sister's grades perfomed when i was little to get into it. and for those two years in that school, i didnt even get a part! only chorus! now, maybe i could have stayed to learn some acting skills from some of the kids who were there or something.. but i was just so mad that i wasnt even given a chanc...

Caught in the middle

Posted Saturday November 4 2006, 10:57 am

Okay. So I'm in 8th Grade, and it's soo hard. And ontop of that I'm directing a show and I just finished doing Into the Woods Jr. Now, with the same company that did Into the Woods they're doing Hansel and Gretel and they seem to really like me there finally, I've been doing that company for years and I always got ensemble roles there. Now, the musical director wants me to audition for Hansel and Gretel, yet my Mom thinks I shouldn't and I don't know if I should. Auditions are in 5 days soo...yeh. Anyone who solves my problem gets a cookie.
