How do I learn to play better chess?
I am ok at it, but I feel like there is something I am just missing and that is why I get beat so often.
Anything that helped you that might help me?

Subject-verb agreement with parentheses

Hi all,
I have a problem with how to work with parentheses. What are the rules for subject-verb agreement?
E.g. Your cat (as well as your dogs) is/are diseased.
I thought that the sentence should read without the stuff in the brackets, so in that case it would be "is". But when I read it that way it sounds terrible. If one used commas instead of brackets, it would be "are", wouldn't it?
I have looked all over the net and I am none the wiser.
Please, for the sake of the paper I am correcting, do not guess :)
Also, I can't remove the brackets, I have to stick to the original formatting.

Famous Battles of the Spanish American War

So i need to do a project about famous battles of the spanish american war but like i'm not entirely sure what qualifies as 'famous'. I know the battle of San Juan Hill was famous and Manila bay but i'm nt sure what else. I have a list of pretty much all the battles but i know thats not what my teacher wants. Anyone know what battles were 'famous' during this time?

Hi 19/f i am a sophomore in college with ADHD. i take medicine for it. well even though i take focalin i still can't concentrate and i end up watching tv and going on the computer. and whenever i go on the computer i go facebook, youtube, and watch porn. i don't know what to do. i am not even suppose to be on facebook/youtube but i still get on. i am suppose to be studying for my midterm in geography. i didn't do well on the first one because i didn't know about it. well now i write stuff down, but my stuff's not organized, i mean i have papers all over the table. and when my parents come home they always ask me if im done and if i say no, they get mad. i know it's ridiculous that they ask me but i mean i can't focus. im not disciplined at ...

There is this girl that I really dislike in school. She is fake and very annoying. I guess you could call her my "frenemy" in a way. We're friends and be talk but I secrety hate her. How can I make her jealous?

The school I want to attend says their minimum requiremets is a 3.0, but I have a 2.8. I scored really high on
my act. Do I have a chance? Or should I not bother trying to get in at all?

too much going on

im a great student and this year although im trying my best im doing badly. i usually get anywhere from A+s to B+s , but this year my grades for the quarter will be in the B- range, and will bring down my GPA drastically. i go ask for extra help, do my homework, pay attention, but i just can't do it (junior yr high school) . i have so much on my plate and i dont know what to do. will i be screwed for college if this semester i do not do well? will i eventually improve if i keep trying? asdfafasgadsdgfadadfhnfgshtyrj

abstract references to chemistry in movies

My chem professor wants us to find a scene from a movie, tv show, novel, etc. that could be used to teach chemistry. He says it cannot be published or presented and must be unknown to him. Is there any abstract references anyone can think of that he might not have heard of? If not just give me any references, he says that if he's heard of it he'll just give us an extension.

Next fall, I'll be going to college. My original plan was go to
community college and then transfer to this really good school. It would save me money and sometimes I get home sick. But then we were downtown and were looking at this one school and I fell in love with it everything about it is perfect, if I wante to I could take the bus home everyday if I wanted too, they give you free passes, even though it's inthe center of downtown, it's so safe. I love it and can see myself
there so easily. But it's a little pricy. So I was wondering, is college really as fun as I think it is? Is it worth going? Actually, I don't even know if they would accept

Should I Report?

Well I'm in a Co-op placement at the hospital you're supposed to report weekly to your teacher of any concerns you have. Even though it is asked of all emplyers and even principles in school, students/employees still don't.
So, everything is going great. EXCEPT that the manger of my department is a bitch and either treats me like shit or pretend that I do not exist! Which is ridiculous to me since she's the one who interviewed me and let my teacher know that I got the placement.
So everyone's nice and all, it's just HER. And I guess she's not exactly part of my placement since she's the manager of the department. But she still pops in for an hour every day and when she comes in, she'll say hi to everyone except...

Just like most college students, I am at a point right now where I have no idea what I "want to be when I grow up". For a little back ground- I enrolled in Nursing school last year (for no reason in particular, I'm interested in the health field and like helping people.. so perfect right?) and it's an Associates Degree program so I will be graduating this Spring. Long story short, these past 2 years have been miserable. I know that anybody who has gone through Nursing school has said the same thing, however it's usually worth it for them in the end. For me though, I think even after I graduate I'm not going to enjoy it; I don't necessarily enjoy the content or the clinicals. SO, that being said- I have absolutely no idea what to d...
