imposing? Posted Monday August 31 2009, 11:30 pm
so im a freshman at a large university in a small town 3 hours from home. i only know 1 person down here so im trying to make friends but it seems like almost everybody ALREADY has friends. i guess it's the ones who rushed, they got that instant bond or whatever. anyway. im not really shy, i'll talk to anyone anytime, but i guess i always get uneasy about approaching someone or a group because i dont want to impose on the conversation. you know those people that, when you're with your friends, it's like they just butt in and no one wants them there? yeah, that's the person i don't want to be. so a couple nights ago i met this group of guys right outside my dorm, they go out there several times a day to chill and smoke and whatever. they yel...

Transfering colleges Posted Sunday August 30 2009, 1:25 am
Alright so I just started college about a week ago and I'm all settled in. I've already been through a week of classes, but I absolutely hate it here. I'm about two hours away from home at a pretty big university. I was wondering if it was possible to transfer schools right after beginning classes. If not, what are some other options that can be used to get me out of here asap? Thank you for helping =]

The Art Institute Posted Wednesday August 26 2009, 8:04 pm
How good is The Art Institutes. I'm reconsidering my college choice and the whole college life and I was considering their online program although I've always looked down on online college degrees. I just want to make sure that they have a really good program, specifically for interior design.

changing majors and schools Posted Wednesday August 26 2009, 11:55 am
I've been at school for a week now and I'm really feeling like I didn't make the right choice. I moved 5 hours away to go to this school and my parents are paying a ton of money which is making me feel horrible about even considering this but I really don't feel like I'm in the right place and now that I've started classes I don't feel like I'm in the right major either. I'm an architecture major and I just feel like it's way too much responsibility for me to handle. I will still always love architecture but I'm not sure if I want it to be my career. I really think I'm going to change my major and go to a different school but I need some help coming up with something to do with my life.

Letters of Recommendation Posted Monday August 24 2009, 12:45 am
Hello! Before school let out, I asked several teachers for letters of recommendation for college applications and scholarships, and just for in general.
I said I would give them all the entire summer to do them, which I thought was really fair.
Anyway, my "problem" is, what is the best way to politely remind them that I asked them for a letter, and that I would like to have it on the first day of school [September 8th]?
Should I send an email? I was thinking of sending emails out this week since it's registration this week, and I figure they are starting to get back in "school mode". Is that fair? Or should I wait until next week?
Thanks you! =]

College Freshman Posted Monday August 17 2009, 11:07 pm
So I'm about to start college, in ten days to be exact, and I'm incredibly nervous. It isn't the social aspects that I'm nervous about though. I have no idea what to expect for actual school. What do I take notes with? Paper? Laptop? How should I organize my notes? Binders? Spirals? What should I typically take to class?
What should my study habits be like, etc etc. Should I carry a backpack?
I'm stressing myself out about stuff that people usually aren't stressing about. HELP!

Needs Near perfect SAT score. Posted Saturday August 15 2009, 3:14 am
I recently had to give up my dream of being a horse jockey because I failed the hearing part of the vision and hearing test. So I moved on to plan B which is Aerospace engineering, and for that I only want to attend Caltech. I can definitely handle that type of school, but since I only need to graduate to be a jockey I slacked off in school. This is my senior year and I have to take the SAT and make a score better than a 2100. I DON'T want to do anything else in life. Can anyone tell the best or most helpful SAT study guides or practices?

Scholarships.. Read Please! Posted Friday August 14 2009, 8:46 pm
Okay, So I was awarded 3 scholarships. They totaled to about 800 dollars. The thing is, I may not be able to go to college in the fall, but I'd still like to attend college in the spring semester. So, would I still be able to keep the scholarship money in order to use for the spring semester?
Thanks!
Oh, I would ask my mom but she knows NOTHING about college, etc. (if you're wondering)

I am a Sophmore at East High School in Duluth, MN. Since I've started High School I've been asked the same question over and over.
"What kind of schooling are you going to do?"
"What career do you want to part take in?"

I want to go somewhere tropical on the ocean and get a Boat with a couple bedrooms, kitchen, living space, bathroom, ect. and Start a business to Charter people out on a boat and take them places they want to go on their vacation, and tour them around and they decide what they want to do for the day/ week/ or however long they wish to stay.
My questions are

Hashimoto's Thyroiditis/don't want to end up going to community school? Posted Friday August 7 2009, 9:42 pm
I have recently been diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis back in April of this year. I presume this has been going on since I was about thirteen. I have a horrific time focusing in school, and my grades show that. I'm going to be a senior this upcoming school year. I used to get B averages, but since the start of my junior year I'm down to C's and D's in my core subjects. On the other end of the spectrum, I do beautifully in electives as my lowest elective grade was a 96.
It's a little late to get educational help. I feel gypped and I lack anything to blame for it. I am severely disinterested in going to community college. I understand that community schools are not bad schools, however, I just don't think I would be happ...

SAT vs. ACT Posted Wednesday July 29 2009, 3:05 pm
I'm going to be a senior next year and am beginning my college application process. I'm applying to some competitive liberal arts schools and have some questions about the SAT vs. ACT. I took the SAT as a sophomore and got a 2260 without studying really. But then I took two SAT subject tests and did poorly (not terrible, but one i was in the 90th percentile and one i was in the 65th percentile, so not great considering where I am applying). The schools require either SAT and SAT subject tests, OR ACT. My question is, would it be better to take the ACT, which i would probably do well on because that type of reasoning, like the SAT, comes easily to me. Or should i just submit my good sAT scores and not great subject tests scores.
Thank you!

To Quit or Not to Quit? Posted Sunday July 26 2009, 1:50 pm
Ok, I couldn't find a legit category for this question so bear with me. Recently my father decided to move to Tennessee and I would truly love to go with him. Here's the struggle I have been dealing with: I am currently in College at Le Cordon Bleu Culinary and have 5 more months of school to go. If I up and leave to TN I lose 40,000 and a degree. If I stay here I get the degree but chance losing another dream of mine, becoming a Law Enforcement officer in TN. They are leaving August 15th and I either move with them and have a place to live that's cheaper and in a more affordable state OR I stay here and live with my fiancee in her parents basement until I finish my degree. I have no idea what to do and I could really use some friendly advi...
