What should I do? Posted Sunday October 4 2015, 4:53 pm
I'm going to make this brief, yet informative as possible. This happened all around 2-3 years ago.
It all started when my mother passed away and we were left with her life insurance benefits. My dad, brother, and me each got around $141,000. At the time I was around 20 or 21 and to me it was quite a lot of money and wasn't sure what to do with it. I wanted to go back to school but my dad told me to wait. So he helped me and my brother set up a money market account with Citizens Bank that way it would sit there and build interest. I wanna say that he might of been the primary owner of the three accounts he set up and we were the secondary owners because we had the ability to withdraw and deposit money into the money market acc...

Money issue Posted Thursday October 1 2015, 2:37 am
I'm not sure this is the correct category but here goes. Back in January 2014, my then boyfriend (ex now) got his second dui. Long story short he didn't have the money for a lawyer and I ended up opening a credit card to pay for the lawyer under the condition that he would make monthly payments to me. The lawyer was paid a flat rate of $3500. Almost two years later I have yet to see a payment from the ex. The kicker with this whole situation too is that I never signed a consent form or anything for that matter with the lawyer. Didn't even meet him just briefly spoke over email about canceling my card (which it didn't happen). I am wondering if there is a way to get my money back. Could I sue my ex for failure to pay? I don't want to get th...

My ex-boss is refusing to pay me for my last week of work? Posted Sunday September 6 2015, 1:21 pm
Long story short I worked for a man for 7 weeks doing his marketing, graphic design, ect for his real estate company. What I thought would be a good opportunity turned into a nightmare. He promised me a steady part time job (I need part time as I'm a full time med student) and within a few weeks he demanded that I work more than part time or he'd fire me which he knew I couldn't afford. I worked as many hours as I could but my schoolwork started falling behind.
Then he became extremely disrespectful to me, insulting my career choice because he "made so much money" in real estate. He also decided he wanted me to work on real estate tasks in real estate programs, which I didn't know how to do and he hardly even tried...

which is a better silver coin? Posted Thursday August 13 2015, 8:20 am
If you could only pick one, which would be the better collectors/investment option? A silver coin that is a deep cameo that's imperfect (maybe some splotches of dark on the silver) or a silver coin that's not cameo at all but is really perfect looking?

Im young but stressed out about the future Posted Wednesday May 20 2015, 10:25 am
I just turned 17 and I want to take a pretty lengthy career path so Im doing a lot of future planning at the moment so I don't screw myself over.
First off, Im a junior in high school doing running start at the moment (college for free during high school) but next school year is my last free year of college, because it'll be my senior year.
I wanted to get a part time job and save up for when I do end up moving out or paying for college but my parents wont let me get a job because we might lose our medicaid and I have a lot of medical things happening to me right now so I need healthcare.
My mom says to wait to get a job until I get an apartment or dorm and just focus on volunteering at the hosp...

How can I make things better for my children? Posted Saturday January 31 2015, 3:43 pm
Help me decide what to do. I have no assets except a beat up van. I’m renting to own a rundown house that needs over $30K in work- new roof, new plumbing, new flooring (seriously the floors are currently particle board and luan). I have two girls, 14 and 13. I have over $24K in credit card debt from my divorce/ ex-husband. The payment on this debt is $600 a month. Although I only make $2000 a month, I worked very hard for two years to build my credit so that I could buy this beat up house. My plan was to take out a home equity loan to pay off my credit card and fix up my house. Everything was lined up and I was going to close on my house. Then my plant closed and I am out of a job so I’m out of a job and can’t a loan.

financial: How to get money out of the stock market? (Without arguing with her?) Posted Friday January 30 2015, 12:49 pm
My wife and I have been married for 47 years. Admittedly shew has made some good financial decisions over the years but now I am concerned about something very serious. We have approximately 95,000.00 in nth stock amrket. ait goes up and down, most.y down lately. I want it all sold and the money put into the bank where it never goes down. She refuses and I hate confrontation. She will simply not talk about it. I asked her one question that I thought would seal the sell it all deal. "Is there more of a chance of it getting to 100,000 or going to 80,000.00"? we've all seen the crashes and we're to old to go through another one. What do you suggest?

Can I mark my parents as dependents on my tax return? Posted Wednesday January 14 2015, 12:13 pm
21/f
I know this question sounds funny. My family has been struggling financially for awhile and my mom has asked me if she could mark me as a dependent. But it turns out, my mom couldn't even afford any of the bills and my sister and I have been paying for them (including the mortgage), since she only makes $300/month. My dad is retired and he gets about $780/month in his retirement funds. My sister didn't have a job pretty much all year around and I spoke to my boss and his brother (who's in accounting) and they told me that since I make the most money in the household and they pretty much depend on me, I can mark them all as dependents.
Can I mark my parents as dependents if they're married? And I know I can...

Working hours I am not being paid for Posted Monday December 1 2014, 6:45 pm
Hi,
I am working for a company part-time and the way my company keeps track of hours spent on certain projects is through a program. If I spend an hour on project A then I will put it into the system and mark 1.0 hour, etc (And that is the amount that reflects my paycheck). Recently my company has been a bit slow so I have been leaving early. My supervisors don't have anything for me to do when I ask them, so I see there's no point in me staying there. Today I stayed there for 8 hours and was only able to charge about half of my time there because for almost 4 hours I had no work to do, but I was basically told to wait there until something comes up. Personally, I feel that it is not fair of them to ask me to stay for 8 hours and gi...

PayPal Money Transfers Posted Tuesday November 25 2014, 6:56 pm
Hello Advicenators: When I pay for a transaction on Ebay using my PayPal and if I don't have enough money in my PayPal account it draws the remainder of the money from my Bank Of America account and pays the merchant immediately. I recently received a refund from a merchant and the money went to PayPal first for what I assume is just a few seconds and PayPal put the money in my Bank Of America account. But the money does not go back to Bank Of America immediately. It just hangs in Cyberspace for a day or two or three. Why do things go fast and smooth on one end and get bogged down on the other end? Bank Of America gets rid of the money fast but are slow to receive it. Why? If I was to receive money believe me it would be a very fast transaction. Thanks, Dave

How long I will be working with this company... Posted Monday November 24 2014, 7:40 pm
Hello,
I am currently working as a CAD intern and I am wondering how long they will be keeping me at the company. At first I was hired during the summer time for an internship and those usually last a couple of weeks to months, but now it seems like I am working part-time since they ask for my school schedule. How do I ask how long I will be working here without being too upfront or rude? I would like to know in case they are planning on letting me go after a couple more months, so that I am prepared to find another internship.
Thanks.

So please, help me. Oh, and I don't know if it helps but I loove to

Considering getting extra student loans... Posted Thursday September 18 2014, 4:51 am
I'm planning on starting college soon and I have to get extra on my student loan, so I can afford fuel to get back and forth. I'm wondering if it might be worth it to get a larger amount and use it to move out of my parents house before I graduate. I'm talking about 20k extra, so that I can buy furnishings and essentials for the apartment as well as have a little cushion afterwards.
Now as young as I sound right now, I'm actually in my 20s, so I have been weighing the pros and cons, but I'd really like an outsiders opinion.
Right now all I have is my boyfriends and he just told me he'd support me no matter what I decide to do. We will not be living together for another couple years, because he is overseas.
