Big red spot on goldfish's head (maybe infection??) Posted Saturday August 30 2008, 8:37 pm
I have had two goldfish for five months now... they seem to be doing just fine. One of them, however, developed what looked like a big white spot on his head (it was almost as big as his head). Today I noticed that it turned completely red and looks like a big spot of blood.
I am really concerned that he might end up dying from this..any information on what this might be, and how to possibly treat it?

My cat Abby.... Posted Saturday August 30 2008, 4:10 pm
So we had a dog two years ago but died. So my cat abby was alone and had our full attention on it and it was a good cat!Just recently my moms boyfriend(for a long time) got a dog named Apollo(2 yrs old) and it seems like Abby's changed since then. He doesn't get all the attention now. And now he won't eat his food, he'll only eat stuff off the counter like spagetti, cookies, and more. He won't drink water and he eats out of the garbage when were not home. Could it be because of Apollo or is he getting old(we think es either 8 or 9?)

Ferrets Posted Saturday August 30 2008, 3:38 pm
alright, i need major help. i want a ferret so, so bad. but my parents say NO. i need your help to persuade them to say YES. i need to make them see my side of the story. their side is my older step-brother had a ferret and it stunk really bad and he left it with his parents when he went to college. and they say he only got a ferret because they didnt know what ferrets were like, but now that they had one... you know they dont want another in this house. but i think i can take better care of my ferret and keep the smell down. and our parents were also upset about the ferret tearing up the couch and ruining the carpet. but i told her i would keep it in its cage most the time, and keep an eye on it when i let him out. plus i said id keep it i...

Should I adopt a Maine Coon Cat from the local Animal Shelter? Posted Wednesday August 27 2008, 5:27 am
I am trying to do the whole animal shelter support thing. Aside from volunteering and donating toys and food I want to adopt a cat. The local animal shelter is great but I need some advice about a certain possible pet. I searched on Petfinder and saw that my local shelter has a Maine Coon Cat kitten up for adoption.
Now, I know there are different breeds of cat but are Main Coon Cats good choices for pets? Are they usually more aggressive than other cats and kittens? The shelter says that this cat is polydactyl (what are polydactyl cats anyway?) and will probably be larger than the average housecat--does this mean it's going to be a mean cat? Should I go for this specific cat breed or stay away and look for a "normal" house cat?

Betta Fish advice needed Posted Saturday August 23 2008, 6:22 pm
I have two Bettas, one make and one female. They have a fairly large tank, considering that they're small fish. I had a divider that separated them from each other, but today when I was cleaning their tank I decided to leave it out. A few minutes ago, for the first time I fed them together. The male hasn't looked so good since I got them about a month ago. The female seems to be really possessive and doesn't let the male eat. She goes as far as to fill her mouth with the TOP FIN Betta Bits even if she can't eat it all. I know that they are fish.. and they can't be trained and whatnot... haha. However, if anyone can tell me why this is then I'd appreciate it.

My cat won't eat properly :( Posted Friday August 22 2008, 2:28 pm
My cat eats his crisps but he doesn't eat any of the other cat food...like the meat.
Does anyone know what might be wrong?
He's been like this for almost two weeks now.
He also has a slight fever...could this be affecting him? But we're giving him medication for that.

My hyperactive dog.. Posted Friday August 22 2008, 2:08 pm
Can't control herself on a car ride. She jumps all around and i'm scared she'll hurt herself by possibly jumping out of the window. She's tried to before, but i'm always holding her with the leash. I see alot of dogs without the leash perfectly still on car rides and i really want my dog to be like that. She's a shepperd mix, 5 months old. Is there a good training method for keeping your puppy obedient in the car? :/

So i have already asked for advice on how to get my mom to get me a kitten and basiclly I want an animal. I have looked at all animals and my favorite has came up to be a rabbit. I have already researched these animals and I love them! So the whole rabbit wanting thing all started when my ma and I where at the fair and we saw bunnies for sale and we talked to a woman about them and she told us about showing your rabbit in contests! I like the idea. So when we came home she was all like "Ok well ask your father" because he is the hard guuy who does'nt let me have anything! And he was pretty cool about it. Noooooow when ever I bring up the subject she says "Oh Vanessa not right now" Or "In four years honey you can ha...

will they EVER get along? Posted Tuesday August 5 2008, 4:10 pm
so, i recently got a puppy who i absolutly LOVE! she's my first dog, she's a german shepherd mix and she's so hyperactive! we've got a problem though. we also have a cat, she's the complete opposite of my dog. she's calm, lazy, and almost always grumpy. she's always staring at the dog, and if i get them close to eachother she starts to hiss and the dog gets scared. there's been several times when she's attacked the poor puppy. i'm scared the cat might really hurt the puppy one day. i love them both and hate having to put them in different rooms just so they won't kill eachother. my cat's around 7 or 8yrs and the dog is 4 months i believe. help? i've gotten scratched up pretty bad by the cat whenever i break up the fight. she's just so stubborn..

Sebaceous cyst on my dog Posted Sunday August 3 2008, 9:24 pm
My golden retriever had a sebaceous cyst on her back, near the top of her tail. It burst and scabbed over. After a few days the scab was just matted to her fur and was hanging off so I cut it. Then the cyst filled up and burst again, and then scabbed over. She had a cyst on her back leg that burst and scabbed over, and she just licked the scab off and it healed. Since this one's on her back she can't lick it but it doesn't seem to bother her. A piece of the scab fell off a few weeks ago and started to bleed, so I don't want to try to take it off. The cyst is starting to fill up again. Is there a way to get the scab off and keep the cyst from coming back besides having a vet remove it?
