Ethics topic(s)?

Posted Wednesday February 16 2011, 7:35 pm

We'll have to have a huge presentation/essay on an ethic topic. Now abortion and euthansia are always the big ones but I want something no one else has probably done but a bit controversal so there will be an argument, but something I will be passionate about.

For example, this girl was used as an example. She's passionate about basketball, so the theacher said that he could base her project on the ethics of health, steriod use, or basketball palyers being overpaid (there were lots).

But I'm not sure about mine. I guess healthcare? Volunteerism woul dbe a good one but nothing from it will pop into my head. Please just list me a couple of topics. THanks!

Deciding on a Major

Posted Wednesday February 16 2011, 2:58 pm

20/f. I know that I want to be a teacher. There is a major at my school: Early Childhood Education. I decided on this major like this semester because before that I was on another track. I wanted to be a lawyer and realized that it really wasn't what I wanted to do. There are three pre-requisites that I have to take before I move into upper division (my last two years). But, that's a LOT of work I have to do over the summer. I know that I want to get a masters also. So, I was thinking that since I would be behind and have taken a lot of wasted classes right now, I should just get my Bachelors in Psychology and then get my masters in Elementary Education. That way it's more specific and I feel like psychology is actually something that I'll ...

Capstone project slogan

Posted Sunday February 13 2011, 7:18 pm

17/f

I'm doing a capstone project about mental health needs of adults suffering from depression and loneliness. I was thinking about giving away little cards with slogans along with friendship bracelets. The problem is, I don't know what to put as the slogan... Should I put, "someone is thinking of you." Or something. I'm not sure, I'm not trying to make it into a business card, I want to make it nice and simple. Help please?!

What do colleges think if you repeated Junior year in a private school

Posted Monday February 7 2011, 10:17 pm

I did great my freshman year, mediocre for the first half of sophomore year and great for the 2nd half, but this year.. has pretty much been hell actually. Just with dealing with a lot of personal problems that have been developed throughout my life.. it's a long story. and it's caused me to fail 5 out of 8 of my classes.. it's embarassing to post this here with all the people worried with having low As.. but I used to consider myself an overachiever but I don't know, I just cracked and continue to be feeling overwhelmed and trying to sort out my problems. I think I need to see a therapist, cause I've never done this bad at school ever.

I go to public school, so I was thinking on whether I should repeat junior year at a local...

Are mixed swim classes acceptable?

Posted Thursday February 3 2011, 4:33 pm

In my daughter's school there will eventually be a swimming unit coming up soon and both boys and girls have the class together. Isn' t kind of wrong to force young people to be in bathing suits in front of each other? Even if its one piece? I assumed they would be seperate. Daughter is in 8th grade by the way

Can't decide what book to read for a critical analysis essay?

Posted Thursday February 3 2011, 12:02 am

I have to pick a book off of a list for an LA cirtical analysis essay. The only problem is, I can't decide which book! I've narrowed it down to a few, but I just can't seem to pick.
The books I've narrowed it down to are: A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, The Stranger by Albert Camus, The Plague by Albert Camus, The Inferno by Dante, or The Turn of the Screw by Henry James.
I really enjoy reading books that are rather deep and almost somewhat disturbing/dark/etc. I was just wondering if I could get some opinions on these books and which one do you think would be most interesting/contains darker elements. So if anyone has read any of these and can give me some opinions, I would greatly appreciate it (: Thanks!

How to get rid of computer to stick my mind more on study?

Posted Saturday January 15 2011, 8:47 pm

I am from Bangladesh right now on USA for two years. Still I am not good at English. Not because I am really weak at this but I can't talk to anybody first other than asked. I am not good at other studies either. Because of my bad voice that no one ever understands me that makes class participation grade low and for bad English and most likely bad hand writing cause me other grade being lower. Till I came to USA I have no friends yet as you already may realized. And with everything else my parents are from very traditional family. We are double poorer than normal poor people in USA. That doesn't matter. My parents keep blaming on me that they think I am being very bad being in school. I am freshman in HS. Where I go to school feeling act li...
