Immanuel = Jesus

How come in the bible an angel comes to josef and tells him that mary will be giving birth to a son called Immanuel - but then he ended up being named Jesus?

I am a Christian but my entire group of friends is not. I want to tell them about Jesus or my faith, but I constantly find myself afraid of their disapproval, but I need to because it won't be long before I become tempted to go against my beliefs. How do I make my stand?

Realistic Dreams

In the last year or so Ive been having extremley realistic dreams. I can even feel pain. I remember I had a nightmare of a murderer chasing me and then shoving the "butt" of a rifle into me and it stinging and burning so bad I had to wake myself up. As soon as I woke up the pain was gone. Even last night I had a dream I got into a pickup truck with my friend and the smell of Axe body spray was overwhelming. I felt like I couldnt breathe until I opened a window in the car. Also in my dream I was fixing my hair and it felt sticky, as if I had glue in it or something, so I actually washed it out in my dream and It was gone. My dreams are so realistic I wonder if these things actually happened. Does anyone have any advice on them or a...

There's a ghost in my house. I know because first, my sister saw it. And when I was home ALONE I tripped over nothing on a flat surface. It felt like someone stuck their foot out and tripepd me. I'm not klutzy or anything. Then, as I was stepping out of the shower, I hit my head on nothing. I am not feeling things either, cuz It gave me a headache! And then, as I sat down on a chair, It felt like someone pushed me off. I fell off and I was not faking or anything. I have good balance. Then, when I was home ALONE, i heard foosteps in my kitchen. They sounded like a man's. So, if that enough proof? And, if I do have a ghost in my house? Thank you.

Okay, so in my religion, we believe in reincarnation, ghosts, and God and da Devil. Like, we believe each person if given 3 lives from God and a Destiny/Fate choosen by both the Devil and God. We also believe that our lives are different each time to serve God or the Devil. I'm a follower of God. Well, I just don't know the name of my religion. It confuses me a lot. Does anybody know what the name of my religion might be?

I am very religious. I do not belong to an organized religion and do not practice any thing that is clearly stated and known. Instead, I choose different beliefs from various religions into a mish-mash of different ideas. For example, I believe that God created the Earth, but I do not believe in the Original Sin (Adam and Eve), from Christian religion. I am asking, since I do not have a name for the mix of my beliefs, what, should I reply when I am asked what religion I practice. I do not want to say an atheist, because that is not what I am.

I need help... Today I went to my religion classes so I could get prepared for my confirmation. Today was my first day but I noticed something about myself. My knowledge of religion is weak. I don't know why. I went to a catholic school for 6 years straight and that helped me become a Catholic. After that I got into a good public school and that's when I learned a lot of things. So really science interfered with my religion but I didn't get offended I was actually amazed maybe there couldn't be like a God who started life but science did. But I decided to become Agnostic so I could search for proof of a God or proof of no God. But then my weekly church going seemed to stop not because I didn't want to go it just that things are changing and...

i always feel like i am approaching death. like im 15 years old i dont have any real friends anymore. everything i try at, i can't succeed. ive never gotten along with my family at all. it might sound liek im complaining but honestly nohting can go right in my life no matter how hard i try. it just doesnt seem liek there is a place for me in the world at all, or like i dont know i dont feel like the purpose of me being alive is doing good for anyone or myself. i get very very depressed most of the time and i honestly just want to kill myself, liek there really isnt a point ofme staying alive. ive gone to a therapist for over a year but nothing really seems to help.

home problems

Me and my family are having some home problems right now..my dad left my mom 3 years ago, but there still married. This christmas will be 4 years since he left. He doesn't give my mom enough money, and if he does, thats only enough to pay the house payment, then she has no money to buy food, also, she has 2 kids, and I'm the oldest and my brother is only 10. My dad is so...I don't know what to say, he gets paid every other friday, right? Well, one friday he'll give my mom 600-700$ or less, and 500$ is the house payment, and then she either has 100$ or 200$ left, yeah, thats only a little bit of food, but she has bills, too, like the phone bill, internet, drug store, etc. She gets social security cause she has one arm, that has nerve damage,...

all my life i've had weird dreams. for example i had a dream that i was talking to one of my friends. i had forgotten about the dream but two days later i'm talking to my friend that i had the dream about and he's telling me something i already know and i say "you already told me this" and he says "that's impossible it just happened 5 minutes ago." last night i had a dream and this old man was in it, today i watch a movie that i have never seen in my life or heard of, and the old man was in the movie. he wasn't a popular actor so it's not like i had a dream about brad pitt and watched a movie and brad pitt happened to be in it. does this happen to normal people? i don't really believe in fortune telling but this is just weird.

Deppression.......

I just moved to Moore, OK a couple of months ago. Everything seemd to be okay. Except, Ive been deppressed lately. Not just like once and it goes away or my bf broke up with me deppressed, I mean deppressed on and off. I hide my true feelings, like I'm trying to shoot down my tears with other things. But I can't because either way, i feel way to deppressed to think. With personal problems, school drama, self-esteem issues. I mean Ive gotta a lot of problems. My friend, Rachel, thinks that I should go get some help for it. Like it's major. But I think all that's gonna do is make things worse. So should I just coop up all my stuff and stay deppressed and hide it? Or should I just go to my school counseler. Help me.... before I do someting really stupid.

Choosing a Religion.

16/F I really am motivated to find a religion that will have me feeling purified. I've already taking some quizzes to see which would suit me, but those weren't of use. Here are some of my beliefs which will not change.
-Against abortion
-Abstinence until marriage
-Strongly against smoking and drinking
-Reincarnation
This is for my own practice and mainly to achieve inner peace. I am very self-aware.
I'd prefer if it were a religion that isn't so common because chances are I've rejected it in the past.
