Personal references for job applications

Posted Wednesday June 17 2009, 11:33 am

I'm 15 and need personal references for job applications. Everyone tells me to use my teachers, but I'm already out of school and I was never that close to any of my teachers (they all liked me, but I just wasn't close to them). I haven't done any volunteer work or anything like that, and I don't play sports, so no coaches. I don't know any of my neighbors very well, except for the ones who are my friends' families. I have no idea who I could put down. Help?

Are At-Home Jobs Really Legit?

Posted Sunday June 14 2009, 12:16 pm

I guess my title explains itself. I have been seeing everywhere on every job website about working at home. At first I thought they're all scams; but if they're on every website, and approved on some job boards like the paper, now I am thinking in between.

Are these working-at-home jobs real or fake? If any are real, please tell me who is real?

I might do it, but I need second opinions and reviews about at-home jobs first.

I do ask to not send me survey websites like CashCrate. I looked into it, it's not very real to me.

Thanks

Harrasment?

Posted Thursday June 11 2009, 8:45 pm

18 M
I work in an Italian restaurant as a waiter.
I have been working there for about 4 months or so.
My boss is a very vulgar, and rude man.
He constantly yells at all of the waiters and waitresses every night. Even when we do nothing wrong. When he makes a mistake, we are the ones who are wrong. Me being one of the only two male Waiters in this restaurant he feels comfortable saying very sexual things about women, and other stuff. Now I joke with my friends about different stuff sexual, what 18 year old boy doesnt. I am tired of the sexual harrasment and mental abuse that he dishes out everyday.
My question is, if i were to quit and want to take action in court, would i be able to?
And how would i go about it?

Could I Try Them Again?

Posted Thursday June 11 2009, 9:49 am

Back in May (last month I guess you can say), I applied and had an interview with this job. I really would love working there, but I was not chosen as a candidate for the position, since of course they found better candidates.

Well I just saw they posted an ad on the internet about looking for more employees for the same position and company. I have much interest in working there (since having experience in the field), and I love their work environment.. so is it possible I could contact them again and see if they can give me a second chance?

Thanks for the time into reading this, and your response(s)!

Work from home

Posted Wednesday June 10 2009, 5:47 am

Does anyone out there know any good work from home opportunities...you know like data entry or some service I could provide where I wouldn't have to sell something, where I could make enough money to replace my job. I would in theory like to make about $500/week or more working 6 hours or less per day. There is one called Auction from Home (I read all the complaints about it so I'm not going to join that one) but I know there are some good ones that work and I would like to do something like that :) Thank you so much

Giving one days notice to my company?

Posted Monday June 8 2009, 1:23 am

I got a job offer today for a contract position through a staffing agency that starts on Wednesday or Monday. I'm currently working for a company that is closing in February. I was told that the position Monday may not be available if they find enough people to start Wednesday, but if I start Wednesday, I am giving my company a days notice. I don't feel right giving them that short of notice, but I don't want to lose the job. What should I do?

Advice columnist career?

Posted Thursday June 4 2009, 12:44 pm

Hey :)

Okay so I love to give people advice, that is why I registered to be a advice columnist on here. I want to be an official advice columnist as a career when I grow up. You know, the kind where you are in the newspaper and people from all over the country ask you for advice. I really want to do this but how? What kind of degree do you need? Do they make good money? What is the average income a year? What type of environment would you work in? Most importantly, are there many jobs for this available in Florida? Please tell me everything you know about this job and how to get it. Thank you so much! :)

I just graduated from college; how can I make myself more qualified to work

Posted Wednesday June 3 2009, 10:34 pm

I have a Bachelor's degree in computer science, and maybe it's just my lack of confidence, but if I look at a list of tech related job descriptions I feel like I'm not qualified for almost all of them. What should I do to improve my confidence in my abilities? It seems like my degree isn't enough and it makes me nervous to see these jobs and their requirements. In other words, what did you do when you graduated? I mean, how did you transition from school and learning to actually working? Also, how do you know what kinds of jobs you should be applying for? I feel like I'm missing something big...

How do I become an Avon representative in my town?

Posted Wednesday June 3 2009, 9:57 pm

I want to start selling Avon to my local community. I live in a fairly small town and I want to sell Avon products to the women nearby so that they don't have to travel so far for decent make-up, perfumes, and lotions. Plus, I could make a little extra money by selling Avon.

How do I begin selling Avon?
