Keeping my Puppie Clean Posted Tuesday February 17 2009, 8:47 pm
Hi there,
I was recently given a Maltese Shitzu Puppie for Christmas.
I bath her regularly or when necessary. I know you can't get water on their heads because it causes ear infections..
Problem is her face is always smelly.. the hair around her face gets wet when she eats and when it dries it goes very hard a smelly...
Any ideas on how I can clean it for her?
I am taking her to puppie school.. hehe.. seems to be working but as soon as I get a pair of scissors near her face she goes crazy so it's very hard to chop the necessary hair off.
Any Idea's??
Thank you :)

Cat Trees & Condos Posted Saturday February 7 2009, 6:47 am
Hey guys,
Does anyone know where to get those awesome cat trees and cat condo's in Johannesburg. I have looked everywhere, and short of importing one i am going to be forced to make one myself. They are really cool, and i thinks my angels would love something like that.
If you are not sure what they look like or what i am talking about, just search google images for 'cat trees'.
If anyone knows where to get these please let me know!!! Thanks guys!!!

Love Bird Killed By Dog, Sad and Confused... Posted Sunday February 1 2009, 2:55 am
I would like to start off by saying that I only want responces from breeders, animal rescuers and people of like nature.
This is what happened. I have had my love bird for just over a month. In that time she has become a very loved and close part of the family (I and my husband). Recently, there was a dog that came to our home. Our Upstairs neighbor said that it was a very friendly and gentil dog that belonged to a lady up the road, that is a little off maybe, and she would not put in the affection that the dog required. So the dog would go to neighbors and stay at different ones houses for periods of time. Well I LOVE ANIMALS. So first we would hang out for the evening and then once I realized she was gentil and quiet, after consul...

Mice Attack! And cockroaches, too... Posted Friday January 30 2009, 11:54 pm
Okay... so this is definitely not really about pets, but there wasn't an appropriate category!
I have mice in my house. My fiancee is away for the weekend, and the mice are not going for the traps, even though they're baited with peanut butter.
I'm not scared of mice, but they are a pain in the butt, and they're dirty to boot.
How do I get rid of them, and keep them out of my house? If it makes any difference, I live in a semi-detached.
The other issue: cockroaches. We occasionally get little cockroaches, seemingly in spurts. Those, I can't handle. How do you keep them from coming into your home? Sealing everything is not an option... our home was built in the 1920s.

Difference between cows for milk vs. for beef? Posted Saturday January 17 2009, 4:20 pm
I'm trying to come up with a title for a painting of a cow. I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is a difference between cows that are raised for their milk versus cows raised for beef??
Like if you just look at a cow, can you tell which it is? Are the black and white ones for milk and the redish brown ones for beef? or what?
(my picture is a redish brown one)
Thanks!

My cat keeps pooping on the floor! Posted Tuesday January 13 2009, 7:21 pm
I adopted a 7 year old cat in mid-november. She pooped on the floor a few times during the first month, but lately has been doing it more often. The weird thing is that she also poops in her litter box, actually she poops there most of the time. It's just every once in awhile (and more often lately) that she leaves her droppings just outside her litter box, or very nearby. A few rare times she has also pooped in the kitchen on the rug. Why is she doing this? How can I get her to stop? She uses her litter box for pooping and urinating, so why the random droppings?

I keep forgetting! Posted Monday January 12 2009, 7:18 pm
I have 2 gerbils, and I love them very much. I really want to get more, but my mom and dad won't let me because I sometimes forget to feed them. I notice in a day or 2, and they never eat a lot of food anyway, so there's no harm, but my parents are still set in stone. How can I convince them?

My male cat's personality has change since i brought home another male cat. Posted Monday January 12 2009, 1:53 am
Hey, i hope there is someone who can help me and give good advice about my cat Flea.
Flea was a stray kitten and was in very bad shape when we found him on the street. He hardly had any hair and was such a little scruff ball, that's why we named him Flea. Shortly after we took him in he became this playfull, cute little friendly kitten who loved playing hide and seek, and would basically play with anything we gave him. He grew a beautiful coat of pitch black fur and became shiny and fluffy.
Then about 1½ years later we took in another kitten who we though was a female, because that's what we were told, and were none the wiser.
Flea and Joker were fine with eachother almost instantly, but then as time went by, Flea s...

i got a new dog. Posted Sunday January 11 2009, 1:09 pm
so i adopted a dog maybe like a month ago? and
she came from a puppy mill, so she had like a liter or two of puppies. shes a bichon/poodle, shes about two years old and shes very sweeet and tiny.
since puppymills abuse puppys and treat them like crap, shes very scared of everything. she found trust in my mom before everyone else so she follows her EVERYWHERE. and every little noise she hears she starts barking and growling. my dad got soo mad yesterday cause he cant take it anymore that he seriously started screaming. i thought it wad just one of those fases he goes through when he gets mad, but i guess not becuase i woke up this morning and my mom told me she is waiting for the lady who runs the adopting thing to cal...

At witts end with 5 y/o cat who won't stop pooping outside his litter box. Posted Thursday January 8 2009, 6:10 pm
I know that it's behavioral as I recently got a female kitten and he started doing this shortly after. He's been doing this for 6 months now with no end in sight. Here's what I've done to try to correct the issue so far. The cat has a clean bill of health. He has his own kitty litter and food space. I clean kitty litter daily and use a non-scented brand. Used just about every type of over-the-counter medicine to improve disposition. Use sprays that discourage cat from pooping in that place again. Show plenty of attention to him so he doesn't get jealous. Any other advice of what I should do would be much appreciated.

I have a sick dog Posted Sunday January 4 2009, 12:51 pm
I have a six year old dog, who is refusing to eat, she is barely drinking. She will not walk on her own, as her body is very weak. She is vomiting, and has thrown up blood. She will randomly shake, and she is loosing weight only in her neck area, and legs. Yet, she has not shown any sign of pain.
Can anyone tell me what may be wrong with her, or even what would cause these things?

Lovebird food Posted Friday January 2 2009, 2:27 am
I have two lovebirds-- I feed them a seed mix and fruits/vegetables every day. I read that it's good for them to have variety in their diet...
Any ideas on other kinds of foods I can feed them like grains, pasta, etc.?
Also, does anyone know of a good treat recipe I can prepare for them?
Thanks!

Pug Posted Saturday December 27 2008, 1:22 pm
I have a pug that is almost a year old, but not quite and I was just wondering if there is anything that I can do with my pug to keep it active, besides playing tug-a-war,walking it,and playing fetch. And maybe something we can do together that will make us 'bond' more as owner and pet.
