I Have A Problem With My Hamster

Posted Thursday May 21 2009, 12:50 am

18/f

I just got a female dwarf hamster on Monday, and have done pretty much everything so far.

Yesterday I noticed her left eye was shut a little bit, but I picked her up and she was fine and opened it. However, today I just got in from dinner, and her left eye was closed again. Her right eye is fine, it's just her left eye is closed.

I went on some sites and they said her eye could be irritated from dust and other contributes. I tried to wipe her eye with a warm washcloth like it said but she would nip at me and go back to her spot.

I'm going to call the vet right now and leave a message since it's 9:50 at night and I know she won't be in. Does anyone know anything else I can try ...

New dog

Posted Wednesday April 29 2009, 11:19 pm

My family currently has a male Lhasa Apso. he is 3 years old and pretty protective of us. We used to have another dog (female) but she died in december. so the current dog has lived with other dogs before. we want to get a new dog next month, a small one about his size. and i was wondering if it mattered if it were a male or female? would the current dog get along better with a female dog? or a male one?

Posted Sunday April 26 2009, 8:51 pm

I want to care for a lizard now that i am older. I want to be able to hold him/her and i don't want to spend over 50 dollars in buying the pet itself. I want to be able to clean the tank fairly easily and enjoy the presence of my pet. I was looking at some green anoles but heard that they do not like to be handled??? is this true??? what lizard do you recommend for me??? Or if you have an idea of another type of reptile with the care instructions and characteristics i meantioned let me know??? Thank you!

ticks! =[

Posted Monday April 13 2009, 11:28 pm

so my puppy has gotten like over 10 ticks in the last week, and we do our best to get them off of her but im still concered. our vet told us that its ok to break them off at the head so the head stays in because the immune system of a dog will dry the head out and push it out, and she even did it to my brothers dog last year and he is fine, but im just wondering if certain types of ticks carry diseases because we've taken off 2 different types from her. and will she be ok if the tick falls off itself because weve also found scabs from what we believe has been a tick that she either knocked off or fell off. please any info will help! im so worried...shes my baby! thanks in advance!

Horseback riding lessons

Posted Friday March 13 2009, 8:17 am

Hi, I have had 30 plus years experience in horse activities, this is where my talent is. I have given lessons off and on over the last year, but now I'd like to make a living at it. However, I need to have a steady reliable income at the same time due to the amount of bills I have to pay, and the care of my farm and animals. What are some unique marketing ideas to target young and adult riders so I can get at least 4 lessons lined up a day? I live 30 minutes from a larger city and there are small towns scattered throughout the area. In this enconomy would people spend $30.00 a week on what most would call recreation?

Dog defecating in house at night

Posted Sunday March 8 2009, 12:49 pm

Our 8 month old Westie Schnauzer cross has been housetrained since he was 3 months old. He's never had accidents since. We crate trained him until about a month ago, and then decided that he would be fine wandering around the house.

About 2-3 weeks ago (around the same time he got neutered), he started to defecate in the house at night. He doesn't urinate, and he doesn't go during the day, even if we're away during the day and leave him out of his crate. He also picks rooms that we seldom use. We do let him out often enough, so that's not an issue.

Every time, he acts funny in the morning and hides from me. I know you're not supposed to scold the dog unless you catch it in the act, but I'm scolding him any...

Housetraining a puppy.

Posted Saturday February 28 2009, 11:54 am

Our puppy is 8 months old now, just got fixed this last week. He's a boy, and a smallish dog. He's been fully housetrained from about 3-4 months old.

Over the last month or so, he's been defecating but NOT urinating inside every once in a while, in one room in particular. We let him out every hour or two, so that's not an issue. He gets punished for it (often we don't catch him in the act, though, since it's in a room we don't often use), and we clean it up with a special animal smell removing cleaner.

Any ideas as to why he might be doing this? Or how to stop it? Until we figure something else out, he's being crated full-time with bathroom breaks. Is this the right thing to do? I'm worried he'll regres...

My cat won't stop pooping on my floor!

Posted Wednesday February 18 2009, 5:06 pm

My cat, who recently got back from the vets office, won't stop pooping on my floor. She started doing this awhile ago and all of the sudden she stopped. I took her to the vet to get fixed and now she started pooping on the floor again. I've tried the spray to kill the pet odor enzymes but it doesn't work. I've tried everything and am at my wit's end. I've got 3 litter boxes for 2 cats, I haven't changed the kind of litter she's used recently, her box is cleaned DAILY.....I'm running out of patience and ideas. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
