Gun Free Campus

My friend is a senior in college, I am a freshman. There has been a new policy that passed two days ago, letting kids carry concealed weapons on campus. I, as well as my friend, are part of the sociology club at school. So, he is really into current events and such that happen especially on campus. He really wants to wear something under his gown on graduation day that says "Keep (my school) a gun free campus" but he isn't sure about doing such because he thinks they may hold his diploma. So, I am writing in to ask you guys what you think. If they hand it to him and he walks and he opens it when he is at the end of the stage, will they hold it? Once it's in his hands, it's his, right?

What to do in New York?

I will be spending three days in New York in the summer and I was wondering if there are some recommendations on where to go, what to do that are not the typical tourist spots?
I would also like ideas on how to choose a decent restaurant for meals - is there anything to look out for that's a definite nay?
Pretty much any recommendations on places and activities from a real New Yorker would be very much appreciated! I'd rather go beyond the usual tourist traps :)

Soo i got grounded a while ago because i go on Facebook ,Tumblr and Youtube too much and i cant really use the internet unless its for homework :/ ....and i get really bored ! any ideas on what i can do to keep myself busy ! any thing helps , really (:

the gas company insists on cutting down ALL my trees?

there is literally about 4 very large trees, & 3 smaller trees in my yard, that the gas company insists they must cut down. my family has lived on this property (well we owned like 4 large lots..then sold a couple) for close to a 100 years. They say they got an..easement (not sure how to spell it) but didn't show any paper work, & no idea how they got this, since nobody in my family agreed to this, unless it was by my grandmother 50 years ago...
anyway, i'm extremely angry about this. these trees are beautiful (some are walnut trees) & they also provide a lot of shade to our house, which allows us to not have to use air conditioning.
i'm all about saving the planet, etc. but i really don't know how...

Awards a Scam??

I'm very happy I'm being honored for my charity work at school. Honestly i do care about the charity than the award. There are others getting awards themselves but little actually deserve them. One girl joined EVERYTHING just to et in yearbook, the newspaper, and to get this award. 2 other girls who claim they're bullied to teachers are getting awards for being kind when in reality the 2 girls bully EVERYONE!!! One of them has an autistic brother who she picks on (punching, kicking, etc.) at school. I feel this is a problem and want to address teachers about it but I don't know if I should.

Self Injury

I self injured in high school, I'm almost 20 now, been clean and I wonder why does no one talk about it? I just mean, there are so many kids out there who struggle with this, and those kids turn into adults, I mean, I still struggle with my addiction sometimes, but why aren't people getting educated about it? It makes me upset that the topic is so "taboo" that it's completely closed off. So why not open up the topic and help our own? I just don't understand. I'm just confused and this is something I'm passionate about. Any answers for me?

Community Service Ideas?

Hello! For high school, you are required to do a certain amount of community service hours to graduate. However, I don't just want to serve food at a homeless shelter and hate doing it like other kids do. My main interests are foreign language, history, and science, and I was wondering whether there are activities that I can participate in that I would enjoy. Also, I'd like to mention that I'm not just doing this to graduate from high school or get accepted into college, but I want to contribute more to my community. Should I register to vote? I got the papers in the mail today cuz i'm almost 18, but I've never really cared about politics or thought about voting, and I don't particularly want to do jury duty at all, which I would have to do if they called. So should I or no?

There are these white ribbons that people hold on to and they can swing around, like they can hook their feet to it, and they can do acro on it..
You may have seen them in Zookeeper the movie, they are at this wedding thing and they were swinging on them.
What are they called..?!

which is really important to know for this question that I am going to be asking you.... Well I made up a Christmas list and my family says 1 of the items sounds to boyish for me.. That item is Legos and yes I said legos. I always thought that it would be cool to do like a 5000+ lego activity. Well that is my opinion. What do you think....Do you think that it is to boyish for me?

The system: do you see the government or the economy getting any better?

I've seen the government displeasing the population and many I know foresee protesting and it is totally understandable. In your opinion, do you see the government or the economy getting any better? I see so many shut up in their houses complaining, yet scared to do anything about it. I do not believe violence is answer but how in the world may there be a reformation? I don't have a reliable source for this but I quote "America is giving their country away..." I can see that, thinking it's time for me to get out. I don't want to be caught up in this mess, and as I see it, it'll only get worse. The media and the media junkies are becoming our population. If the people were cows, the government can easily tip them however they pleas...

Does anyone have any really Unique sweet 16 ideas? My birthday is early December and my ideas so far are Winter Wonderland *which another girl is doing so thats sort of out..but i kind of still really want to do it.) Among other things, it says that black,hispanic women are crack babies,calls these women derogatory,racist names and this website's owner is clearly a racist and has no respect for black,hispanic women should be shut down and or sued right away,adult film is one thing when it is tasteful,but this is not tasteful porn.

Friends are gone for the summer

Summer break is finally here! I love visiting my family and going swimming and stuff, but every single one of my friends are out of town for the whole summer! I keep busy playing soccer four times a week, babysitting, and going to my cottage, but my dad keeps pushing me to do something with my friends and get out of the house more. It does get boring just lazing around the house all day.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can spend my summer?
