Night of the Notables/Nobles

At my school, we have a night event called 'Night of the Notables/Nobles', and we have to pick a 'notable achiever/person who made a positive influence in the world' to be for that day. We have to make a presentation in class as that person as well. Well, I'm a sophomore female, and I really don't know who to be! It can be a literary, scientific, historical, or musical, i.e, figure. But people such as Britney Spears and Hitler are out of the question, you know what I mean?
Do you guys have any suggestions as to who I should be? I don't want it to be a boring person either, because the most standoutish people make it to the actual night and get to present and stuff, so, yeah. And everybody's doing Oprah, so yeah, just no.

OK for my science class I have to make up a poem that has to do with our curriculum (Biology) and it has to be done like a valentine. I can do any topic I studied this year. I was thinking ecology. Any ideas on how I might go about it?

Would like to know about consumer math in Grade 10

I am currently in grade 9 and next year we get a choice of one or two math classes out of 3. Since I was very good at math I am thinking of taking IB Precalc and Applied. What I hate though is that we only get to choose 2 classes and there is also consumer math on the list. I will not take it because its basic but its basic stuff I need to know! Anyways does anyone know a website that contains all the information on grade 10 consumer math? I really want to take the other 2 classes but I also want to know about consumer math.

Can anybody tell me to what extent Portuguese is spoken in Macau? Could I get by without knowing Cantonese, i.e. if I went to the shops, or a bank etc, could I speak Portuguese? (For my univeristy course I have to spend time in a country where they speak the language I am studying, i.e. Portuguese, and I would love to go to the Far East, as a lot of friends, and my boyfriend, will spend their year abroad in China or Japan).

ok i dono bout other people but i really think that it was the most dumbest thing to go to war i mean i am a christian and we learn tolerance and well going to war wow and now the hamas is in power for the palestines i dono its just that now are troops are stuck there and also in africa people are getting killed every single day i mean the whole reason we are in iraq is to help those people rite so why aren't we in africa rite now well i just think we are in iraq for oil i dono can i get your guyses opinions on it please

Winterfest Queen

Any advice as to how I can win freshman class Winterfest Queen? There aren't very many cliques in my school and a lot of people are nice...but I'm not one of the "Popular" girls (however, not one of the "Nerdy" girls as well). I just really want to win, but I'm horrible socially.

topic for speech

I have to make a speech on thrusday in front of my classroom. The problem is that I can't start preparing my speech until I choose a topic, and I'm having a hard time deciding this.
Does anyone have any interesting ideas for topics? It has to be something that has recently been in the magazine or newspaper articles.

im taking a class called bioethics & we have to find a current event with an article but i can't find any good bioethic related articles. it has to be like abortion, stem cell research, etc. it can't be one sided, it has to be some kind've debate. i've tried using www.bioethics.net but everyone in my class basically took it. does anyone know any good websites??

you get 100 terms we've learned so far in science class. i have that! then you're supposed to arrange it into some "creative way" my friend gave me some ideas like writing all the words into a valentine theme like... a heart with an arrow or a smiley face!!! can i get more ideas please

And I was looking online but I didn't really find any on him that had to do with the Santa Fe Trail. A boy is harrasing me. What should i do?

I got into a fight with a girl in my neighbor hood. Now i don't like to fight but when it comes down to if i have to fight im going to do my best. So when i did fight the girl i beat her up, but i don't like to brag. i'm not that kind of person. So in school i hang out with my cousin and 2 of my friends. One day i was getting out of school and i heard someone yell " you got f***ed up. When i looked i saw a boy who is friends with the girl i fought, so i figured he said it but i didn't jump to conclusions. I just kept walking. Then in school my friend came and told me that the boy is going around school telling people that i got beat up. But again i ignored it. So then the other day i checked my email and the boy sent me an email saying...

Friend staying with me before exams

My friend is coming to stay with me for two weeks from overseas in my september school holidays (i'm from queensland australia) problem is I'm in year 12, and my end of year exams start on the 27th of october, and he goes back on the 2nd of october. I'm really worrying now that having him stay with me will infringe on my marks as I won't get much done when he's here. I know this sounds selfish, but these exams are very important. So, what should I do? Does everyone think after he goes back I'll have enough time to concentrate on studying? Or should I try and reschedule the trip?
I'm probably worrying way too much!! lol. Thanks for your help all.

Driving school & SUMMER SCHOOL?!! WOAH!

I'm 15. And pretty dumb..Not at the point where i'm retarded, but at the point where i have to go to summer school. I really want to get my permit over summer & go to this driving school, but I have summer school(I already found out I need to take it..). And everything is going to be hectic. Plus I'm about to get a job(i know right, a job at 15...but I got the hook ups =]). And I might keep that job over summer too. And i can't take the driving lessons when i'm still in the school year, because things are very busy with homework and stuff. I seriously don't know what to do. So this is what I was thinking. I asked my counsler at my school about summer school & asked if I can do independent study for the classes that I failed, but she...

Who wants to go to school for 6 weeks and then have 3 off then go back?
Not me I want to hear what everyone has to say on this though. It would affect Christmas, thanksgiving, traveling... and etc. You'd have some very cold 3 week breaks during the winter.. who wants that?
I just need some advice or whatever on this.

My problem is that I am always thinking so critically of myself. It started a few years ago when I realized I was obese. I have lost a few pounds since then, not enough to be rewarded for but I still feel fat and ugly all of the time. Technically, if you went by my BMI I am overweight still. I wish I did not feel this way about myself because I have always admired confident people, you know? I want to be like them. Its like, I tried to slim my body but NOTHING works so I have given up on that. Yet when I look in the mirror I see a fat, ugly person that everyone hates. What should I do? Life is miserable this way. Please help...
