I don't know what college I want to attend, and I'm unsure about my major. Posted Thursday February 10 2011, 5:01 pm
I'm a junior in high school. And I'm worried. I don't know what college I wanna go to, and I'm unsure about my major. I currently have a 3.8-3.9 GPA.
I was thinking about architecture or interior design, but I'm afraid that I'm going to walk into a class at a college and feel completely lost or dumb. I don't know much about architecture, but it's honestly one of the few careers that seem to be of any real interest to me. I've taken Drawing 1 and 2 at my high school, and photography as well. I plan on taking a Physics and Design class my senior year, and another photography class. But I'm still scared and unsure. If I choose to major in Architecture, what do I have to go into college knowing about it? What skills will I need to have? ...

SAT Composite Score: How can I find it? Posted Sunday January 30 2011, 5:18 pm
I need to know my composite SAT score for a scholarship application.
My scores are:
Critical Reading: 660
Math: 650
Writing: 620
I've heard that the composite is all three scores, and also that it's only the critical reading and math. (For instance, on one college app it lists my composite as 1310, not 1930). Can anyone lead me to a site or to someone who knows with absolutely certainty?

Is there any thing more I can do to get him to see he needs to attend college to make a better life for himself? He says he going but has not. He is very smart and intelligent and made good grades in school.

Summer Programs Posted Friday January 28 2011, 7:09 pm
f/ freshman
I am really set on going to some kind of academic enrichment or art camp, preferably at a college, this summer. The problem is that I am going away from June 26-July 9, as well as from July 17-August 5. All of the summer programs are during this time. I get out of school June first and go back to school in September. Are there any programs (near Massachusetts or residential) that are either in June, August, or the week between my two trips?

Don't know what to do... Posted Thursday January 20 2011, 3:39 pm
16/f
I'm probably a bit under average at school because I'm ADD and I'm a bit of a procrastinator, but when it comes to something that entertains me or that I'm passionate about, I work my butt off, particularly with writing since that's basically my only skill. Today a guy came to talk to us about careers and it got me to thinking about what I want to do. The problem?
What kind of a career could a person like me get?
I might not graduate for another two years since I'm missing a credit, so I think I have some time, but I still want to have a plan...
I was hoping for a job that might allow me to stay home since I never leave my house, unless it's to go to school, but that's it. Are there any careers for s...

Early action acceptance Posted Thursday December 2 2010, 9:05 pm
I accepted an early action offer at a university. But I thought that by accepting this I could still later decide NOT to attend. Now I'm afraid that I HAVE to attend this school. This school isn't my first choice and I'm still waiting on my other decisions which come in march. I'm freaking out. What should I do?
Ps: this isn't early decision, but by accepting early action did I automatically declare that I will 100% commit to this schoo? :(

Switching schools - I don't want my old life back Posted Sunday November 28 2010, 12:56 am
Hi! I am a freshman in college (18/F). I live in Illinois but I'm going to school in Nevada. I have major health issues that are making me leave school and go home to focus on fixing my health. I have made friends for the first time since jr. high at school and I am really going to miss them. While I'm at home, I will be a part-time student at the local community college. I have no friends at home because high school was really rough for me (still health related problems). I am really worried that I will go back to being how I was before, really shy and not talkative at school, and lonely and bored at home. Is there any ideas on how to make new friends in a community college setting where I won't be taking many classes? I am REALLY shy when...

I'm a junior in high school and am thinking about college. I really need volunteer work but I want the work to reflect my interests, extracurricular activities, and classes. I am interested in writing(essay, poetry, maybe journalism), art(all art but especially photography), and music. Are there any charities/organizations/foundations that I can volunteer for that support writing, art and/or music?
Also, I want to enter art and writing competitions/ contests hor high school students. What are good ones? Especially prestigious and national ones.

Need help deciding between AAA (Associates of Applied Art) or BFA Posted Tuesday November 23 2010, 11:08 am
Hi,
I am an adult 1st year college student, and am experiencing major anxiety over this decision. Originally I registered for an AAA (Associates of Applied Art)degree, then a friend in one of my classes said I should consider a BFA because no one is going to hire me with an AAA. The thing is I have Attention deficiet, pretty bad/I take meds, so going back to school was a very difficult decision for me to begin with. I had decided to go for the AAA because then I can get a contration of studio art classes, and not so much of the other academic classes that I am afraid to take. Basically I want to be a fine artist and do studio work. I have also been thinking of opening an an Art Center to include studio space, gallery space, ...
