Two new pet dumbo rats. how do i become closer and get them to trust?

Posted Sunday August 1 2010, 1:45 pm

I just got two new dumbo rats yesterday for my birthday. i love animals, i love rats. i know they're active and normally friendly. but first thing's first, letting them trust you. i'd like for them to become close to me and trust me enough so i could just hold them and they could freely run around.

so, what are some things to do to win their trust quickly?

potty training

Posted Saturday July 31 2010, 11:18 am

Hello i have a 6 months old toy fox terrier shes a female. I received her when she was 3 months old. We've been trying to potty train her and she just cant seem to get it. She's very energetic and playful. The times she does go potty outside we reward her and praise her but shes so hyper all the time i dont think she knows what shes being rewarded for. We try to keep an eye on her to look for the signs of when she needs to go and when we cant we put her in her kennel. She rarely goes to the bathroom in there so we use it to our advantage as soon as we take her out of her kennel we bring her outside to go potty. The only problem is she doesnt understand to go OUTSIDE! We can be outside for like 45min and she wont go but as soon as we come in...

Dog + road = :'(

Posted Monday July 26 2010, 3:44 pm

I live in the country on a farm and just got a year old german shepherd dog and have had her for just oover a month. Although she is very bright she is also extremely energetic at times.
When i first got her she would always be either tied up with a chain or with us on a leash so she can get used to the place. (she is an outside dog) I would walk her around her boundary lines each day which is what was suggested to me as there is no fence around my yard. She has been off her chain but lately this passed week she will cross the road (especially if she sees a bird or another animal) to my neighbors house. This is NOT ok as we live on a fairly busy road. When we bring her back we chain her up and give her no treats for the rest of the ...

new kitten

Posted Monday July 26 2010, 2:30 pm

me and my boyfriend got a new kitten a few days ago. he's about 3 weeks old. when we first got him, he meowed alot, and wanted tons of attention. he crawled all over everything, and on top of us. which i can understand, him being scared and wondering who we are. but he still does it. he always wants to sleep with us, and next to us, he crawls all over us, paws on our faces, everything. even when we're eating, he gets on top of us and wants to get our food. i really am starting to feel like me and my boyfriend arent getting a whole lot of alone time, cause the cat wants to be with us. is this normal for a kitten? or are we doing something wrong?

Dog Carrying Toys Like Puppies

Posted Friday July 9 2010, 8:24 pm

My cousin, who I live with, has a dog.The dogs name is Reese. She's a pitbull, I dont know if she's mixed with anything or not. And she's like a year old...
My cousin has a son thats 10 months old.
Well Reese has just recently taken an interest in acting like 3 of the babies toys are puppies.
The toys are a trumpet that has music, a book that has a squeaky toy in it, & a rubberduck.
The dog carries them around, licks them clean, hides them in corners under clothes, hides them in the bed, acts just like they are puppies.
& one time she lost the rubber duck and cried/whined until we found it..
She's only started to do this a month ago..Why is she doing this?!
its very cute...but it's ...

Worried my dog will not get along with new puppy

Posted Thursday July 1 2010, 11:50 pm

Ok so I have one dog who is three. She is my only dog and she does not play with other dogs or even bark or anything when she sees them. However, she is also incredibly loving. Not just towards me, but towards all other people And stuffed animals. I have no idea why she does this but she licks all of there heads and just cuddles them. I'm just not sure if they are going to get along. Have you ever experienced this or what do you think?

By the way, I know how to introduce them.. I'm just worried about how she'll take it.

Also, I'm getting another girl dog. I heard it's better to get opposite sex, but that isn't going to happen.

my cat is such a weirdo.

Posted Thursday June 17 2010, 7:27 pm

okay so around the same time every year, she'll start acting strangely. she's about 1 1/2 or 2 right now, we don't know for sure. last year around the time when summer started, she began getting weirded out by the outside. our cats sit by the door when they wanna go outside, and she will. she'll sit there, and when we open the door, she'll just walk out. but last year whenever she'd stand by the door, we'd open it and she'd back up like something scared her. then we'll think she changed her mind so we'd shut the door. then she'll start mewing and wanna go outside again, so we'll try again. this goes on for a while until we give her a little push towards the door, and she'll leap over the wooden opening in the door to the outside. she did th...

i'm thinking about getting a pet dog. some criteria for the dog would be a large dog, doesn't shed too much, not aggressive and doesn't bark a lot. also id like a dog that doesn't age to fast ( as in it doesn't develop bad joints and what not until its pretty old)and is easily trained. also ill be living in the city and im a young male

Can you have two male cats together

Posted Saturday June 12 2010, 3:13 pm

I've had my boy cat for 2 years now. He's great but I got this new job where I'm away from the house like all day long. I don't want him to get lonely because he's a really social cat and so I thought of getting him a friend at the shelter here.

I went to the shelter but they only have male cats right now because it isn't a very big place. They were encouraging me to get one so that they could open up a spot for another animal but I just don't know because they're males too.

I heard that if you put two males together that they will fight and end up hurt or one will even kill the other one. I don't know if that's true because I don't know much about cats, to be honest. I couldn't take my cat right now getting hu...
