One day my cousin came to visit us and was telling us about how much her dad hates her because he never stops yelling at her for anything she does and she doesn't do anything worng.
Then my dad interjected "You idiot! He yells at you a lot because he loves you the most!"
And then she looked at my little brother because evryone knows that he yells at him the most.
Is it true? I thought I was his favourite, I'm the only one out of the three siblings who even like him at all.
And if it is true, how? I don't get it, it doesn't make sense

Thanksgiving dinner

I am going with my girlfriend's family for Thanksgiving this year to her family friend's house, and I was wondering:
1) What should I bring? (gifts, food, etc)
2) What should I talk about?
3) General advice about girlfriend's parents.
This is not the first time meeting her parents, but the first time really having a conversation with them.

I would like to hear some opinions on 14, 15 and 16 year olds having sex. I personally find it heartbreaking when I read these questions from these young people asking about sex and if they are doing it right. They don't even know about the other consquences BESIDES pregnancy and HPV, STDs such as STIs and emoional consequences.
I am only 20, so it wasn't long ago I was this age, and I find this to be ridiculous! What happened to true love? Or waiting until marrige? It seems to me these girls just want to be popular with the boys and the guys want to be popular among boys. Is it just me? Am I crazy?

How do I tell my parents?

17/f I have a new boyfriend who is really lovely and nice and sweet and is a really decent guy. The thing is, he's not exactly "parent-approval" material, and I just know for a fact my parents would hate him. I don't normally keep the fact I have boyfriends secret from parents, but this time it feels different. For a start, I broke up with my ex pretty soon before I started dating this guy, and my parents LOVED my ex and were quite sad to see us split up! This was still only about 2 months ago.
Also, I've been going to his and seeing him a lot recently. I collapsed about two weeks ago at his house (nothing to do with him!) and lied at my parents about where it happened and said it was at a friend's, and if I told them now t...

Ok so... my cousin moved to his adds apartment in san fransico from brazil last winter (his mom and sister still live in brazil). On the 15th his mom got a him a ticket to go back brazil because his dad said he didnt want him anymore (yeah i knowits sad) howeverl i NEED to see him before he leaves because otherwise i will porbably never see him again (his mom wont lwt him back to the states) and i live in michigan. I asked my parents if i coudld go this weekend and they said no. I cant take no as an asnwer, how can i get there without my parents? pleasee give me rational answers this is really important to me

My mom gives me mixed messages on things I buy. She will tell me she doesn’t care how much or what I buy but sometimes when we go to a store and I am going to buy she says you don’t need it or it is ugly so I wont buy it: (But the jewelry I do buy which is a lot my mom admires and tells me it is beautiful.) Here are examples:
(1) This past summer We were at a crafts fair and I was looking at rings and I had a few in my hand and she said "how many are u going to buy" later on she said she did not care what or how much I brought. My mom thinks I'm a bad kid!

My mom constantly thinks I'm doing something wrong, but she used to buy me and my friends beer and stuff and even tried to get me more drunk than I already was once. I will admit I'm not perfect, but the worst thing I've done is smoke (cigarettes) and then drink with her permission. But now she asked me if I was sniffing WD-40! I dont think thats even possible! And she always thinks im lying. What do I do?

Ok we came to america..yea its all legal we're from France and my mother has been stressed trying to get a job and a degree over here since its different. anyway recently ive been getting bad grades which is a flip out because my mom knows me as an A student so i tell her about the grades and im totally sweet and everything and i even cry for her...lol anyway yea and i said sorry over and over and she still flips out majorly. she expects me to be a robot for the rest of high school and not have any fun shes taken away my web accounts like bebo etc and shes saying i wont be able to go out and stuff to parties and to the movies with friends. does she really expect me to live through that. My sister found out i have a boyfriend and she's 13 im 15 and im scared she'll tell my parents i just want a sister i can trust and talk to but as much as i try to she just back fires i want her to tell me when she has a boyfriend but she always thinks im gonna tell my parents which i won't i want her to trust me as much as i try to talk to her she won't listen and now she knows i havea boyfriend i can't even look at her anymore

forgotten birthday???

I don't live with my little sister anymore because she now lives with my dad from about a year ago. I really mean a lot to her because my dad says everytime she hears my voice she crys because she misses me so much. It was her birthday on the 29th and i forgot to call her. I feel really guilty and i really want to make up to her. I havent spoken to her yet. What can i do about it? what can i buy her? shes 10 by the way...but she is very mature.

Parents just don't understand!

I don't know what to say or do. I graduated college a few months ago, and now my parents are on my back about doing something with my life, as they like to put it. I got in a huge fight with them over this, and I have ZERO support from them.
-what I want: job/internship in magazines to gain experience, and then eventually go to grad school.
-what they want: get a job, and apply to grad school at the same time.
I want to get job experience BEFORE I apply to grad school (journalism), but that is something they absolutely fail to understand. I don't know what to tell them...it's as though every chance they get, they're on my back about this.
I had a terrible day thinking about it, and it always makes me feel like complete crap.
What should I do?

Shouldn't Parents Live together?

I visited my grandparents a few weeks ago and totaly loved it there, I saw all my old friends (I used to live there when I was 9), and the youth groupe rocked! I told my mom how much I loved it there and she asked if I wanted to move there. I told her yes but I ment my entire family. My mom really misses it back in her home town and wants to move there and has made arangements to move back there but without my dad. They aren't getting a divorce but they still aren't going to live together for like 3 years. Mom says that there marriage will last, but I can't help but think that she is sacrificing here marriage for me... should I tell her that i don't want to move (I really do) because she says that we won't if I don't want to.

convincing parents

this winter break i really want to go to canada with my friend and her older brother and his friends. we would all stay in a condo and go skiing and just like have fun and stuff...but i don't think my parents will let me because they're soo strict. any ways to help me convince them to let me go?
oh and i'm almost 17/f and so is my friend. her brother and his friends are like 19ish and in college if you needed that info.

Staying Chill Through All The Drama

First off, I've finally found that it's time to ignore the people in my life who only want to cause trouble, or start nonsense drama. And I've managed to stay really happy now, in fact, happier than I've ever been in my life so far. But now, I'm having family drama with my parents. I feel like I'm in the middle between the two of them when they're arguing. So my question is faily simple, how do I manage to stay happy or at least sane, through all of the drama?

step mother

when i was around 5 my mother died from cancer. Now i have a step mother and 2 step sisters. My step mother is every loving, but doesnt like help me with girl stuff. I always have to learn things on my own. And for like clothes, what matches? i cant ask my dad anything like that because hes a guy and doesnt really know. Like for my school pictures, i was wearing a pink and grey top and my dad picked a purple background, she didnt really help me she just helped my 2 step sisters. (I know i can ask her, but shouldnt she realize that i need help with it?)
