Storytellers to the rescue! Posted Sunday February 19 2006, 1:42 pm
I'm going to be a camp counselor this summer, and at the camp I go to, each cabin can invite a counselor to come to their cabin right before bed and tell a story or sing a song or read poetry, anything that will get them to go to sleep. Well, I'm a good singer, I'm in the 2 advanced choirs at my school, but I don't know what kinds of songs I should sing to them. The problem is that the age range is from 9-18, so I have a difficult audience. I'd like to tell stories as well, but I don't have any very interesting stories that I can think of and I've tried searching on google, but it's really hard to choose the right story. So, if you were at camp, what kind of story would you like to hear? A funny one, a personal story, a traditional story (l...

well tomorow me and my sister are going babysitting for about 4 hours and we need some activities to do with the children mainly because i will be very busy with the baby and she doesnt have much expirience on how to occupy them. they are 3.5 and 2 (boy and a girl). we tried searching the internet but we couldnt come up with anything because the younger one isnt quit ready for preschool activities? any ideas the younger ones verbal skills are low so songs and stuff are kind of out of the question and they are not aloud to watch TV or bake or anything!
(easy crafts are good!)

I think im goin crazy...lol Posted Friday February 10 2006, 2:42 pm
ok, so without disclosing my age, we'll say im over the age of 18, I recently started babysitting an infant that is teething. I babysit him from 5am to 5pm, so I've got my hands full. I've never had children of my own but I have always loved kids and yes, I know how to take care of him as far as feeding, burping and such ok so my question is, he's fine and dandy as long as I am holding him 24 hours a day, but I cant hold him all the time, i need both my hands to fix his bottles and such, but if I put him down, he screams his head off and will NOT stop. What is his deal? I think he is just spoiled a couple of ppl have told me to just put him down and let him cry it out but that makes me feel like a bad person for doing that. any advice? p.s. he's 4 months old.

Troubled child Posted Monday February 6 2006, 9:33 pm
There is a boy I babysit for that I am very worried about. He has grown up in a bad home, but no one has been able to get enough evidence to get him sent to a better place. He tears rooms apart, turns over tables, and injurs me when I try to do anything he doesn't like. What can I do to help him? Any suggetions will be rated.

on december 26, a new family is moving in to the house next door to mine. my mom talked to their realtor (another neighbor) and found out that the family will have a 3 yr. old and a 5 yr. old. by the way, I'm 13.
the question that i have is, how long should i wait before i introduce myself, and how should i do it? i really want to babysit for them, and i work really well with little kids. i've never worked for pay before, just as favors for my aunt (with kids age 2 and 7) so im not really sure what to charge either.
i know this is really long, and has a bunch of different questions. but any answers will be appreciated to the tone of a 5! thanks in advance!

should i call Posted Thursday December 1 2005, 8:01 pm
i babysit for this family once in a while & they called me a few days ago to babysit on this coming friday, but i can't. then the lady called today and was like "I know you said you can't babysit, but I am really desprate, so I was wondering if you knew anyone who would be able to?" So I told her I'd ask a few people and let her know if someone could. So I asked a few people, but none of them can either. I feel bad for his lady (even though it's not my fault or problem) but I don't know if I should still call her back. I would feel weird being like "sorry i couldn't find anyone" and leaving her with no one at all, but I would also feel guilty if I didn't call. Should I still call even though I didn't find anyone, & if so, what should I say?

Suspected child abuse Posted Wednesday November 23 2005, 5:02 pm
I recently babysat for one of my husband's coworkers for a few days. After seeing a few warning signs, I'm beginning to think that the children are not being taken care of and that she may be abusing them.
This woman brings the children out in freezing weather with no jackets. She drops them off with no supplies. The children don't appear to have been bathed. They have severe, untreated diaper rash which leads me to think they're not being changed like they should. I've also noticed bruises on one of the children. It could be from bumping something, but from the look of the bruises I suspect the child was hit. When I feed them, they act like they haven't been fed in a while.
I've tried talking to her, but she t...
