U.S. shows preference for Saudi Arabia?

Posted Wednesday February 28 2007, 2:28 pm

Apparently, the U.S. has always had a soft spot for Saudi Arabia since they depend on their oil but is this all post-911 or were there significant events going on behind the backdrop prior to 1990? I know they were allies in the Gulf Wars but other than that, is there anything else to go on? Pretty much all I see right now is the U.S. flying out all the Saudi's in September of 01. I can't see any other obvious bias.

Any ideas involving the Middle East that I could do an essay

Posted Wednesday February 28 2007, 7:07 am

I need to do a -persuasive- research essay based on something that happened in the Middle East between 1945-1995. He said he's looking for something like "Stalin's succesors did not carry out his plans for the U.S.S.R and therefore eventually led to the Soviet's collapse" and then supporting point out of history to prove that i.e. "Khrushchev's destalinization weakened the communist ideals adopted by the community because..."
I have to work with the Middle East, pretty much anything involving Saudia Arabia, Iran, Israel and Palestine et cetera (he told us to stay away from Iraq for now). He also says he doesn't want to see any radical biased opinions or rants and everything needs to be supported by academic source...

assignment and cheating

Posted Wednesday February 28 2007, 12:03 am

So my History teacher gave me a 0/200 becuase my neightbor copied off of my paper. She is one of my best friends, and I completely understand why the teacher gave us both 0s. What I don't get is that I let her copy because she was absent. We had to take notes on a video and she missed the video so I let her copy my notes. When we turned them in we both got complete 0s. I'm well aware that copying is wrong, and me being the one she copied from understands because if I did all the work while all she did was copy, I wouldn't ever let her copy. But the fact of the matter is that she was absent and I wanted to let her have the notes. (She's the teacher that doesn't allow make up ANYTHING.) I am going to talk to this teacher about maybe changing ...

I know this sounds really crazy, but i set my goal at a 30. So is it possible? What kind of classes do I need to take? How many times should I take the ACT? and When is the best time to take the ACT? Thanks

i feel so dumb!

Posted Tuesday February 27 2007, 6:11 pm

I am 16 years old and a Junior. When I took the SAT practice sample test I pretty much failed it. Like I got a pretty low score. Out of 20 questions, I got 3 right. I wanted to punch myself because everyone else got like at least 10 right. I tried studying for another practice test but I never get any better. I really don't want to waste 70 dollars to take the SAT and have a horrible score on it. So what are some tips and strategies I can use to get a good score?

I am not like a real smart person, but I am in average classes, passing all of them. My school is known to not do-so-well but I was below my school average. I also know that there is a book to help you with your SATs/ACTs. Is it good and how can I get it?

Alternative

Posted Monday February 26 2007, 4:35 pm

So I failed my freshmen year due to insecurities and not pushing myself to my fullest potential. So this is my sophomore year and I'm failing like the same 2 classes each semester. Math and PE. [Even though, it's mainly PE]

If I go to an Alternative school.. would I be able to go to college?
Because people make those schools seem so bad.
Do you go to that school once a week for like 6 hours or something and bring home a packet?

I'm confused.

I want to get enough credits to graduate.

But people make alternative schools seem for like "stupid, challenged" kids..

People/teachers already think I'm stupid because I'm so quiet [shy, anxiety]

I hate it!

Posted Monday February 26 2007, 1:01 pm

Hey. Well, I'm thirteen and I'm in 7th grade. I get honors, but I think that might stop this term. See, I used to not love school, but I still didn't mind it,and I always did my homework and got good grades on pretty much everything [I'm only talking about this year, not before then]. But now, as it's into third term, I hate school.I find myself faking sick a lot, even though I've missed what, 11 days so far? I guess my point is, I hate school. I count down the days to the weekends. I don't do my homework and try to find the easy way out of everything. Now I'm really lazy and lie a lot to get out of doing things school related. I can't do this anymore, I need to get through this year. I thought it was because I needed a vacation, but now I'...
