recording singing voice

When you record your voice on a regular tape recorder or on your computer on the "sound recorder" application with a normal microphone is that the way that your voice REALLY sounds?
because i'm a singer, and my voice sounds so bad on those types of recordings but when i watched a higher-quality video of one of my performances it sounded really good.
i hope i'm not as bad as the lower quality recordings sound.

16/F My whole life consists of singing. It's all I ever want to do. My problem is: in public...I can't sing along to a song unless I'm asked to and everyone puts their full attention on me. I like to sing Country, Rock and R&B mainly. What's stopping me, is that I always make songs my own and can't always blend with the artist. How do I overcome this? Overall, I'd say I'm pretty comfortable with my voice. I just don't want to make it seem like I'm a show-off, but I need people to know I'm into singing because I want to share what makes me happy with those surrounding me. Thank you!

Well, I am not that great of a singer, But I taped myself singing on my cell-phone today and I dont sound bad. The only problem is I can only sing really werid songs, And I sing to soft its almost to the point you can barely hear me. Is it possible to train your voice to get louder? Any tips?

i'm getting my temps in a few days, and i'm just wondering, what exactly do they do? i know you take a test on the computer, but like when you pass, you get your actual temps. it'll have your height, weight, eye color, hair color, and all that too right? do they actually weigh you and stuff, or do you just tell them? how does all that work? thanks.

ringback tone for cingular

i didn't know what to put this under so..
my brother has a ringback tone on his phone, but he has cingular. like, when you call him, it DOESN't say "please enjoy the music while your party is reached" or whatever, it just goes straight to the song. i asked him how he got it, but he said his roomate did it for him. is it possible to have a ringback tone on a cingular phone? i really want one but i didn't know.

The Used concert

So my friend and I LOVE the band The Used. We've been wanting to go to a concert of theirs for about 3 years now and we are finally going to one this September. I've always wanted to meet them, it would be a dream come true. I know a couple of people who have met band members before concerts and stuff... has anyone ever met any band member and if so, how do you do it? I don't think they have meet and greets. Any advice on how to at least possibly just say hi to them? That'd be so freaking awesome. Thanks so much for your advice.

not songs like, i love my chick, or gettin some head. songs that like, are nauseatingly adorable and that you wish someone would sing to you and mean wholeheartedly.
