reading

hey.
i have some trouble reading. like, i read, but i don't retain. the only time i retain is when i am in love with the book. when i read, i start thinking about other stuff & i can't concentrate on the book. i try to "picture" it in my head, but it doesn't help much. i really want to start reading more.
i read in a quiet, well-lit comfortable [but not TOO comfortable] area.
do you have any tips, please?
i need advice on how to get the BIG picture. i pick up all the little unnecessary details, but i don't get the big picture. i've tried reading paragraphs, even chapters at a time & asking myself, "what did i just read?" but i just have trouble retainin...

Hi guys
Uhmm i have this assignment at skool about prostheses and i cant find some information! If you guys can (hoping that you will), please help me out!!
I need to find some websites that answer these questions:
"Why it is needed to be fitted into/onto the body.
What is the prosthesis made from?
HOw long does it last before the need of a replacement?
How is the prosthesis fixed into/unto the body?"
about three prostheses for an assignment.
THREE, preferebly one should be "artificial limbs"

im going to be a freshman next year. actually school starts in about two weeks but whatever. and im going to a new school and theres a ton of people at my school.
and in middle school i had 2 boyfriends and a lot of friends.
and next year im going to the high school my middle school feeds into so its not like im moving anywhere.
but im worried since im going to a huge school with so many people that im not gonna get a boyfriend or i might loose my friends right now.
am i worrying too much?

So i'm graduating in 2008 ( this june) and on my AIM profile i have like "Senior Class of 2008 <3" and i want to put a really nice ending or graduating quote underneath it. So any ideas?
p.s i'm not looking for song lyrics like the "friends forever" graduation song, i want more unique and sentimental

HELP ME!
currently am in Honduras(central America) but sice i have a green card, am obligated to live there at leats 5 YEARS!! okay so the thing is how do i handle not being bullied(not that ive been bullied before)? , or just give me all the tips you can give me!! plaese.. becouse when i lived there 1 year for 6TH grade, it whent pretty BAD! PLEASE, and THANKS! :P by the way am going to 9th grade.

hey
this september, i'm going to be going into high school. i have a few questions. - you don't have to answer all of them; even if you can answer one, i'd be greatly appreciative.
1.) what's the FASTEST way to learn the map of my school? - besides getting a map & memorizing it
2.) how do i not become nervous the first few weeks when i'm getting accustomed? [like when i get lost, etc.]
3.) any tips on how to survive at least freshman year?

public speaking

Okay, I'm starting highschool this year and i have a HUGE fear of public speaking. This year we have to take an "art" so not thinking i chose theatre arts; and were going to have to be on stage a lot. when i get up in front of a group i tend to shake or my voice shakes,.. how can i get rid of this fear and start highschool with some more confidence. thanks in advance!

okay so my parents started talking to me about careers and stuff but i have like no idea what i want to do. i love fashion [especially tokyo street fashion], but i don't want to be a designer, i was thinking maybe like a magazine journalist for fashion but i don't know. what are some jobs that have to do with fashion? and like do you know any websites where you can take a test that shows you what careers are good for you? and maybe one that gives you information on differnet careers?
i've tried googling it but everytime it's some stupid thing that you have to like pay for or it doesn't give me the information i'm looking for.

High School

Ok, so basically our town's high school sucks. The schooling is good, it's just the building I'm concerned about. God forbid if there was ever a fire, I'm not sure everyone would be able to get out safely! You have to go through some classrooms so get to other classrooms, some rooms are just made up of room dividers, what happens if there's a lockdown and someone's in the building? The people in that "room" are an open target. There aren't too many Exits, some classrooms are outside in these trailor-type things, and it's just an awful place to be! I was wondering if any of you know of a way I possibly could report our school for being a safety hazard? We really!!! need a new HS if you haven't noticed yet. I just don't know how I c...

i cant stand highschool anymore im in 11th grade and i would do absolutley anything to leave.. i was thinking maybe of doing a foriegn exchange program for 11th grade .. is that possible?? if so can someone give me the info on it??
idk why but 10th grade was impossible for me i had too many nerve problems with my stomach and stuff it was bad.. caused me to start cutting classes and never going to school. dont get me wrong i was once a straight a studen im smart.. i just cant apply myself when theres things standing in my way and distracting me.. im really scared for 11th grade cause i know for a fact im going to do bad with my nerve problems.. i want to do something like get homeschooled or go away to another country or somet...

Enrollment is going on right now and I'm going to enroll on the very last day of enrollment x.x If I do, will I get a bad locker or do they just give out random lockers to people? Also, on the first day of school, should I bring a backpack + binder, or just a binder, or just nothing? Thanks!

Getting Bullied by a Friend

I'm sorta gettin bullied at school by my best friend! She's really nice and all... but... she's bullying me about my hair colour. I bought a chunking kit and my mom did my hair at home, which is way cheaper than going to a salon. Anyway, it went all wrong. two of the chunks ran in to each otther and cause a huge blonde streak right by my face. And on the other side it's brown for about 3 inches and then its blonde. I tried getting a haircut to help a bit but it didn't work!
This same thing happened when I was the first of my all my friends to get a piercing at the top of my ear. Every time I did something to annoy her she would whack where my earring was. I eventually had to go to the hospital and get the earring removed bec...

hey. well, i'm getting ready to go into high school. and i'm sooo scared. i'm scared about all of the upperclassman, but the most thing i'm scared of is the work. i know it will be much harder. and i get soooo nervous on tests and stuff, and i'm really scared for finals. i HAVE to graduate. i can't fail. what grades do you have to get to pass classes? can it be an A,B, or C? cause i always thought that if it was D or lower, you couldn't pass your class. in middle school i always got A and B's, but i don't know how, cause i never really understood the work. and i don't remember stuff very well, so everything that i learned in school, i probably won't remember a lot of it. i really don't want to go to high school. on a scale of 1-10, how hard...

Can anyone explain Letter Points to me? I know that you get them for doing and stuff and get a letter thingy. But what do you get them in, how do you get them and if possible how many 'points' you need to get one?

Disappointment with Grades

I just FINALLY found out my provincial exam marks. I did horribly I can't lie, I completely disappointed myself. I just lost any chance to go to university. I'm really close to hyperventilating and bursting into tears.. how do I cope. I know it's my own fault but it's really upsetting to know how badly I did. A full 20% lower than I expected on all three exams. I don't even know how this is possible. My friends just tell me it doesn't matter, my parents aren't impressed. Thanks..
