USA schooling system

Posted Friday August 24 2007, 10:22 pm

hi, can someone tell me how the american schooling system works? here in England, theres are a couple different variations, but the city i live in, and surrounding areas, the system goes like this:
5 years old-start year 1 of primary school
11 years old-year 6. last year of primary school
12 years old-start year 7 of secondary school
16 years old- year 11. last year of secondary school.
after that you can go in to full, or part time work while going to college, which is optional, and free. college is usually for about 2+ years and you earn A levels here, aswell as other like a2, As etc.

a whole new world of education

Posted Friday August 24 2007, 3:36 pm

I grew up in SouthWest Ohio and I definatley talk/express myself like a true Ohioan with all the "please?, queer, sucker, gymshoes, pop", etc. One problem... I live in New Jersey now. I moved in Jan 07. People here are mean/self-centered/rude and just not friendly & take themselves wayyy too seriously.. I'm a very outgoing and friendly person but I feel like I can't talk to people here because they'll either look at me like "excuse me, do I know you?" or make fun of the way I talk. I like to joke around and have fun [without making fun of other people] and I can't seem to find anyone cool like that. I've tried being quiet and wearing what everyone else wears but it's boring.
I'm a great friend to have but peop...

Woodshop's evil masterlocks- how to use.

Posted Thursday August 23 2007, 10:01 pm

Holy mother of god, I just had the worst day I've had in years, and also embarassed myself by not being able to use woodshop's own variety of combination lock. I have tried and tried, but to no avail.

How does this work? Do all combo locks work the same? Our hall/PE lockers work like this: you enter the first number by twisting to the right, twist to the left to find the second, and then you skip one whole turn before you get to the last number (to the right).

I'd prefer not to get links, but whatever you can give me will help. I feel utterly helpless when it comes to this, and have basically been in a hellhole of depression this afternoon because I can't learn how to use the things and can't practice... (besid...

Classes Question

Posted Wednesday August 22 2007, 2:54 pm

I am going to be a junior this fall and I'm finishing choosing my classes for my new schedule. Ever since I started grade I've been taking more advanced classes. As I started getting older I could only be offered a high math class as I would just sit in a 2-grade higher class. However certain sciences and whatnot are required for each grade level. With that background information I'm wondering how difficult AP Statistics should be for me. Last year I took Pre-Cal and this year I'm taking AP Calculus along with AP Stats. Keep in mind even though I am 2+ years ahead of where my classmates are the work is still very difficult, I don't just breeze through it. It's just like I'm a normal person in that class, I'm just 2 years younger. I still ge...
