How to boost wi-fi range? What products to buy....

Have money- ready to buy..// Here's some history..
I'm an online student, currently with an iPhone and Verizon with hotspot. I can't afford it much longer, and would like to be prepared so I can get internet access someway. I have laptop with Vista (yuck) and intel adapters. My ability to see networks is not good. Can't even see iPhone when it's right beside it. I guess i want to have stronger wifi ability. about 1/2 mile, i have a friend that let's me use his signal. I have to walk there. I need to extend my range? I'm really just a few blocks down the road. If i had his signal at my house.....I have a D-Link DI-604, my intel wireless card 2200BG. I am ready right now to buy something online. so, what should i get?

laptop troubles and Scared to tell my parents

last year I unstailed windows 7 and my mom went a fixed the laptop. now I put windows 8 consumer preview on my laptop and microsoft decided to wait till after I downloaded it to tell me I cant unstaill it and now if I tell my mom she is gonna get super mad at me. is there a way to remove windows 8 consumer preview without reinstalling windows 7 and if theres not please give me some advice on telling my mom about the laptop

Java(TM) 6 Update 26 error 1723 missing dll -- SOLUTION

So yesterday my windows 7 was working just fine, until I got an update for my Javascript. I opened it and began my update it seemed to be going well until it was initializing the download. A pop up 'error 1723 missing dll' came up then I was redirected to Java.com's help page.
They have this error listed, but as for the reason of why it happens, it's under unknown. :( Well I did what they have listed to do, I uninstalled all other older listings of Java as well as failed attempts. I had 3, I don't really remember what they were under, but two were uninstalled normally, but the third would pop up the error when I tried to uninstall it too. So I ran Regedit and found Java(TM) 6 Update 26 and deleted it. Then I restarted my lap...

My computer won't turn off!

I have an emachines laptop. It is in great condition, however, I opened it this morning to use it, and it has a black screen yet the green power button remains on. I try to shut it down by holding this button but it will not react to anything. No screen light, no sounds, just the sound of it running! I don't know what to do and I have so many school assignments due tomorrow and my laptop is going nuts! Help!?

I want to repair my Brother MFC-885CW printer.

The above is a Brother printer that became inoperative recently. I would like to repair it because Brother repair centres charge $75 just to look at it, plus parts! I understand from the information I gave to Brother that the power board is the likely culprit, because after showing an error (which I have forgotten, sorry) it STOPPED functioning completely. It is dead! Thus I need to know:
1) How do I GET INTO the printer,
2) Using my testing meter and soldering iron, how do I find out what's wrong and what might I replace or repair?
Your answer might be that I am too vague, or it might simply be that I should replace that board, in which case what is that part and where might I get it?

Hello,
I need your guys' advice.
I am a college student always on the go. I am commuting to school four times a week and going to straight to work afterwards. I currently have a laptop (dell inspiron 1545 17 inch). And honestly, it is really heavy to carry around. Especially since I am taking four classes every day. I have to carry my textbooks and everything including my laptop.
I would also like to use it at work. I work with children and I don't want to be carrying around a 17in laptop around especially since we are constantly moving.
I am a little on the fence on buying it though. I know that it would make my life so much easier. I wouldn't have to carry my big laptop around t...

Web Cam is always blurry

I have a brand new laptop, from first day the web cam is blurry I played with all the options and and played with the lights, nothing changes the blurry factor, got an other suggestions?

Selling on eBay!

Hi, I really need some help on eBay!
I've bought plenty of items on eBay using paypal but I sold my first two items the other day. The buyers paid straight away as it said 'payment pending' on eBay. It took about 3 days and was still payment pending. One of the buyers emailed me and said I had to link my paypal account or something??? That doesn't make sence, it must be linked somehow because I have bought things on eBay before. So I did something to my account (not sure what!) and the money is now in my paypal account for both transactions. My problem is that on eBay it still says payment pending two days later. I am worried because I haven't shipped my items yet and I don't know what to do! Can someone please help?! Thanks! :)

Twitter question about celebrities

Hey there! well I follow some celebrities on Twitter, and a lot of them have the blue verification mark on their profiles, but on two or three don't. I have looked for all the signs to see if these celbrities are the real thing and it seems like they are defintly the real people, but I was just wondering do all of the real celebrites on twitter have the blue verification mark? or can some be the real thing and not have the mark? becuase i have been wanting to know so badly!! please help thankss!(:

Weird virus scan..

This program called "Windows 7 Avista" keeps giving me warnings on my computer, saying it is about to get hijacked and is full of viruses such as Trojan, worms, and other security threats. It wants me to register and purchase a virus cleanup that costs 79 bucks. Every time I try to turn up my volume on my computer, it always pops up. I've never downloaded Windows 7 Avista, and when I open up my antivirus system to scan my computer, no threats come up. I am so confused and this is annoying. Can anyone tell me what to do or how to fix this?

I just had a problem with my computer (dell inspiron 15r. My account on it was all screwy so I made another account and deleted the original one. Now I can't find microsoft office starter or paint or anything like that, and I was just wondering if I can get it back? Any help is appreciated.

First off call me ice. Anyway,what is facebook all about? I'd like to sign up but i can't until I'm like 16. Parents are way too overprotective,but i can see why. I'm not going to say why i don't want to upset anybody. Also is facebook becoming even bigger by the day? Thanks a lot!
