My iron has black stuff on the bottom and it keeps rubbing off on white clothes but it won't be wiped off. Any tips for getting it off and any idea why it's there in the first place?! (link)
"Get some relaxer (the kind black girls use) from cvs, walmart, etc. follow the directions for mixing the relaxer. heat up the iron, when hot take a cloth or papertowel, or scouring pad and wipe globs of of the relaxer on it. the brown stuff will just peel away and fall off its amazing. it sounds crazy but i learned this in cosmetology school it works like a charm and it also works on curling irons and flat irons. give it a shot you won't regret it!" - I got this from another site ...

I dropped a hot iron on the carpet and it burnt bad - and then the black stuff at the bottom got worse over a few months until I couldn't iron a thing without the iron sticking to the clothes and leaving brown marks everywhere...I tried everything short of sand paper ... then invested in a tub of relaxer, put it on when the iron was hot - And it wiped off!!!
