My dog is very old, around 17, and I recently noticed that the white of his eyes has red veins (beyond the norm), it seems pretty red.
He has cataracts (sp?), but otherwise is in good health and has a good appetite. His muscles are weak, he's deteriorating (we're thinking of when to put him to sleep :( :(
But I was wondering if the red eyes/veiny eyes is a real cause of concern, or just a sign of old age? (link)

I'm sorry that ure havin 2 face up to the difficult decision.
The red eyes is a main sign of conguntivitus which is basically an eye infection. I would take him to the vets, who will probably give u some eye drops to get rid of this. If you dont get this treated soon, he could end up with a stratched cornea which means his sight may get worse and the infection is quite uncomfortable.
This is easily treatable and isn't a death sentance at all as the drops aren't expensive.
My lab always gets eye infections due to rolling in mank water and he's fine after 2 weeks of drops.
