I have to do a paper on a current sports controversy but I can't think of any and I can't find any on google. So what's a current controversy in sports? (link)
In the United States, there is a huge controversy in baseball going on about steroid abuse. Star players like Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa, Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez, and many others have been linked to steroid use, most commonly in the Mitchell Report. Some stars, such as Rodriguez and Manny Ramirez, admitted to steroid use, while others, such as Clemens and Bonds, vehemently deny it. Since taking steroids is generally viewed as cheating, most people believe that stars linked to or proven guilty of using steroids should be banned from the Hall of Fame or have their records stripped. The problem, however, lies within how to determine if a player is guilty or not. Barry Bonds, for example, has never failed a drug test, yet many people point to his soaring numbers, increase in size and muscles, and a change in temperament as evidence. I suggest Goggling "the Mitchell Report" or "steroids in baseball" for more information.
Hope this helps!
