Hey, I'm Ben and I'm 16. I'm a Junior finally. I am attempting to get my GPA high enough to get some sort of scholarship to Central Michigan University. I want to major in Music Education. I'm new to this whole online advice thing but I've been giving advice for years. To be honest, I'm a brutally honest person so don't expect me to "beat around the bush".

I am really confused lately. I have a new guy friend, and we are becoming really good friends, and he is African American. And I hate to say it but, my parents..are racist. It's horrible. I don't know what to do. I just don't see why the color of skin matters so much. Help? (link)
It shouldn't matter what your parents think about him. Whether he's African American, Asian American, or Russian American, he's still a person. If your parents treat you with the respect you deserve then why shouldn't they treat him with the respect he deserves. He's just as good of a person as you or I. I personally think you should sit down with your parents and talk about this stuff.

Sincerely,
Ben
