i want to go to the UK with my friend on this trip as a student ambassador (because we both got accepted) but it costs a ton, like we need fundraising ideas. so far we have:

babysitting, bake sale, petsit, dog walking, watering plants/ rake leaves/shovel driveways, teaching people about the computer (AIM and stuff), lemonade stand, cookies, garage sale, make keychains, sell candy bars, homemade doggie treats, sell stickers, bracelets, car wash

Can someone please like tell me the name of a company that does fundraising ideas, or just give more ideas ? like suggest something else or tell me a compmany that lets you fundraise. like a girl at my school is selling chocolate for her choir group from this chocolate company...anyone know anything? thanks! I think it's admirable that you are willing to do so much to earn money toward paying for this trip to the UK with your friend. It shows integrity and character on your part.

However, you and your parents would do well to first check out these two sites first regarding the People to People Student Ambassador Program.

If after reading the information there you and family still feel you should go, then by all means raise money toward that trip. Good luck!

If you and your parents want to make a fully informed decision on whether you should go on this trip, you should read the statement made by Iowa Attorney General's Office earlier this summer:

http://www.state.ia.us/government/ag/latest_news/releases/june_2006/People_to_People.html

And here is the link to a news article from ConsumerAffairs.com on People to People agreeing to "clarify" its invitation policy:

P.S. I notice you say that you are too young to get a real job. Perhaps instead you and your parents should go on a family vacation together to the UK for about the same amount of money (or less) that is required to be raised to pay for this Student Ambassador trip to the UK.

I got a letter in the mail inviting me to become a People to People student ambassador and go on a trip to China in 2007. It says you have to be invitied to have a chance to be able to go on the trip. I think this is the deal, you go to a meeting and they tell you about it. Then if you decide to go you and your parents go to 6 orientation meetings preparing you for the trip. I just want to know if anyone else has heard of this and is it really and honor to be invited to do this, or is it a scam?? Also what do you think the price range would be for 17 daysin china with this orginization. By the way i'm 13 year old female. (link)
