Currently, I am the President of a BDSM organization that is a coalition partner with NCSF, focusing on BDSM education and providing a community for people who otherwise think they are the only people out there interested in Bondage/Domination/submission/Masochism. The NCSF is the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom, and they too are focused on education and the protection of the rights of consenting adults to express their sexuality.
I will answer questions about kink, sexuality and safe, sane and consentual self expression. I am not a lawyer, so I can't answer legal questions. If you are experiencing serious mental health issues, please go see a professional for face to face evaluation and support.

I have a background in addictions and mental health counseling, and 15 years of participating in BDSM communities in Europe and the US.

Oddly enough, I am somewhat of an anglophile, and as such have developed quite the fetish for BDSM etiquette, Tea service, and other quirky topics such as "What should the bride wear to a Gay Leatherman Wedding"?

Natalie,
to answer question 1 first, we have all cried ourself to sleep at one time or another. It's exhausting, but sometimes your emptions get so overwhelming you can't stuff them anymore, and the crying offers you the release you need to go to sleep.

I guess my question back to you is: Why the need to cry yourself to sleep weekly?

Without knowing more about your situation, I can't give great advice, but here are some initial thoughts.

While crying is normal, it can also be a sign of depression. Depression is usually a reaction to outside experiences and stress that you can't resolve using your normal coping skills. Depression can also be causd by a chemical imbalance in your body/brain. Depression is your body and mind telling you that something needs to be worked on. Your attention is requested. Is something stressing you out or making you sad? Do you feel hopeless, helpless or overwhelmed?

Sometimes, talking to a counselor or therapist can help you identify areas of your life that you can get help to cope with so you don't have to feel depressed. Other times, medications can help for a short period of time whiel you work things out.

All that said, you can also simply be very in touch with your emotions and experiencing hormonal fluxuations. I don't know how old you are Natalie, but we all go through stages in life where things seem to hit us harder than usual, and we cry more easily.

Talk to someone about the crying. Get stuff off your chest.Let another person you trust in and chat about the things that cause you to cry like this. Be open to feedback and accept support when it is offered.

Best of luck to you!
