Okay, so there is a ton of negative input in the media of what Straight Edge really means.
I'm not exact, but I'm sure there is a ton of people on this site who hasn't really fully understood what it really is.
I was wondering if I could get peoples views on what they think Straight Edge is? (link)

I disagree with the first answer on the point of "bettering yourself". For me, the only place the word "better" fits into my being Straight Edge is that I feel that it's a better lifestyle for me. I feel that I'm happier and thus I consider that better, but I don't feel that I would be much worse if I didn't swear edge.
But I do agree on that it's a life choice to be edge. No-one ever said it would be an easy one, as there is always going to be peer pressure to some degree, at least for me. But I'm okay with that. For me, SE is about not giving in to that pressure and reminding myself that I'm the one that says what I do, not anyone else. Just because I don't drink, smoke or get high at the weekend (or any other time, for that matter) doesn't make me any less of an equal person to those around me.
So, in summary, for me being Straight Edge is about being myself.
