Q: My friend has a cut on her face. I asked her how she got it, but she refused to tell me. I asked her a few more times after that but gave up because she said she couldn't say.
What I am scared is that she's cutting herself, or that her parents are abusive. I can't think of anything other than that, that would be so bad you wouldn't want to tell anyone (or be allowed to). I first thought it was her cat that scratched her but I think she would have told me.
OR.. maybe its really nothing bad and she's just looking for attention. But aside from all of that--what should I do? I am really worried about her and wish I knew why and how she got the cut. (Its a scrape, on her face)

I think this is probably one of the hardest things a person has to do in their lifetime. A friend is like a dear relative. They're there for you to lean on when you can't hold yourself up anymore. I know you don't want to lose your friend, so at some point in time, you'll have to tell someone. If you don't do anything, nothing will change. Try some of these things:
1. Try talking to her again. Remind her that she's important to you. Tell her you're not trying to hurt her--you're trying to HELP her. If that doesn't work...
2. If you seriously believe her parents are the ones harming her, tell someone right away. I think you shouldn't quickly go to the authorities, but do tell someone.
3. If she is cutting herself or trying to get attention...once again, tell someone. There may be some online or over the phone help services too.
