Hey! I'll be sixteen in June and was hoping for a summer job. I know that PacSun hires at sixteen, so I was thinking about working there.
The problem is that I don't know how to get hired! Do they have to have a help wanted sign up? Because when you don't see many of those when you're walking around the mall.
Do I just ask for an application or something?
How do I do it and what are the chances of actually getting hired?
Also, there are a lot of malls around my area. Should I apply for all at once? If so, what happens if I get hired for more than one store? (link)
Some stores might put up a help wanted sign, especially its in a shopping centre.
my suggestion to you would be, to write up a resume (get it written by a parent or career advisor at your school, so they can do a spell/gramatical check) and print out a few copies. Go into the store that you would be intrested in and ask to speak with the manager. If the manager isn't around, hand in your resume to one of the staff members and ask them to specificaly give it to the manager. Call them min 3 days later and ask to speak with the manager to do a follow up on your resume and whether they have recieved it or not.
They might or might not call you in the next 1 to 2 weeks to ask for an interview. Remember the key to help get the job you want is to do a few follow up calls. (not eveyday but if a whole 2 weeks has gone past and no response, it's wise to call them) Employers like the employee to be deidcated and persistent (to a point)
YOu being successful is based on experience in the field, how many other applicants are applying for the same position, how well you can sell yourself in your resume... remember to make yourself seem like you're confident in being able to do the job properly, and the words "eager to learn" and "determination" "dedication" "team player" "committed" are helpful when you do your resume!
Don't worry about including your Date of Birth in your resume. They should like/dislike you for your resume and not based on age.
If you get hired at more than one store then you get to pick which one you want and consider the pay rates, hours, travel etc...

good luck!
