There is no time of the month where you can not get pregnant. There are times of the month where it is less likely, but yes you can get pregnant on your period. So if you don't want to get pregnant, use birth control pills or other contraceptives.

P.S. Remember that you have to be on birth control pills for a month before they begin to work.
