if i go and see a counselor and i tell that counselor that i cut is the counselor allowed to tell my parents or do they have to keep my secret? i want to talk to someone about it but at any costs (even at my own) i CANNOT tell my parents. they cannot find out. im 14 so i know im a minor but doesnt the counselor have to keep my secrets? please help. i want to get help but without my parents knowing im cutting. i just dont know how to do it. thank you so much :) (link)

They could tell your parents but you are doing a good thing by getting help. When you talk to your counselor ask them if it can stay between you and them and they should respect your wishes. Tell them the reason you don't want them to know and let them know how badly you want to keep this between you and them.
