I am very confused. =] Any help is appreciated!

1) What is the mininum wage now?

2) What kind of jobs can one get whose salary goes beyond the minimum wage (lifeguarding, etc)? Only jobs with training or can entry-level newbies do anything?

3) What kind of jobs are open to 16+ college bound persons?

4) It would probably be better to get a job I would have a greater chance of landing a job if it were "full time"? So that means working over the summer as opposed to weekends during the school year, right? How many work hours would that average per week approximately?

5) How does the process work? I go in, ask for an application, fill it out, hand it back and wait for them to call and schedule an interview? If all job processes are different, what is the general process usually?

6) Any other tips.

Thanks in advance! (link)
1) minimum wage depends on the state you live in. (where i live its like 8.15)

2) most jobs will start out minimum untill a few weeks or a month, but you will need to get something like a CPR card, food handels card, ect. types of cards or cirtificates. that will help you get a higher paying job without needign a degree or anything.

3)In most states there are alot of restrictions on 16 year olds working because of child labor laws. if you ARE 16 focus on a fast food place. there are many jobs other than fast food. at your school go to your career center or counsilor and ask for job help. companys usualy ask them to tell the students about job offerings in their companies... like being a secretary or a park maintance.

4)Many companies will nto allow a high school student to work full time DURING school. so yes it would be best to work in summer for full time. full time is 21-40 and part time is 1-20.

5)They vary. the best thing you can do is go in looking ready and crisp. ask for an appilcation, fill it out, when you go to turn it in ask if the manager is there, if they are, ask if you can speak to them, tell them any special schoolign or interests or goals you have, dont tell themy ou need this money. but tell them you have goals, liek you are excited to work and such. but all in all job processes are pretty much the same.

6)BE PREPARED! have a firm hand shake. speak clearly. take time on applications to write neatly. if they cant read it they will throw it out. and be ready to explain anything they ask about your resume or application. and SMILE.. smiel while saying hello. while shaking hands. smile when you say thank you very much. things like that

i hope that helps. if you need anymore clearification you can send it to my inbox.
