advice

Hi. (13/f)
I love to talk to people, but when I want to say something, I'm speechless. I just don't have any news. What kind of general stuff could I say? I read that talking about the news and stuff is good, like looking through a newspaper in the morning then using news as your topic of convo. I use that for long conversations with my hairdresser or people like that, but not with my friends. I just need unimportant things to say that are funny and witty and are interesting. Like I sit next my friend Jordan during art class at school, and the only thing I can figure out to say is how "wonderful" his drawing is. I just can't figure out something to say that's like interesting, but casual and kind of pointless, like interesting talk that's solely for the purpose of breaking a silence. I see these people everyday, so it's not like I can ask what they do after school, what kind of sports they play, etc because I already know. Any help please? I hate just sitting there not saying anything.

well do you like this jordan person? tat might be giving you a problem talking to him.if you want to talk to him then drawing upon things from around the room is a good idea, like You Got Advice said. but the random interjections have to be used correctly. like you can tell him somethign about yourself even if its sort of random. it can be totally innocent like "so today after school im goign to.." or "last weekend i..." you know? its hte best if you have a particularly funny story to tell. whats great about this is you dont have to be the funny person in the story, it just has to be a funny story you heard or took place in like "so thi sone time my friend and i were downtwon and there was this Free Hugs guy..." or you can use the fact that its art class. like say you were drawing an apple (i did in my art class.)
you can ask him for help on it. be like "how should i shade this?"
it just takes practice. i used to be really shy when i was in my early teens too but as i got older and more confident it was easier and easier. im sure it will be for you too

(Rating: 5) Thanks, I feel confident and stuff, but there just was never anything to say and anything I did say wasn't interesting! But thanks for your help. And, no, I don't have a crush on my friend, I just used that as an example.
