The decision as to whether or not to swallow is yours and yours alone. In the spirit of true intimacy, you ought to at least try it a time or two to see if you can get used to it, but at the end of the day, only you can decide what works for you. Make sure you communicate to your partner about the subject, though, so that he understands why you've made the decisions you have. If he cannot accept your decision on the matter, and/or tries to force you to swallow it, it might be a good idea to find another partner. If he cannot accept your decision, then this shows a lack of respect for you, and this is never a good thing.

The key to learning to swallow efficiently is, as with anything else, practice. If you're new to giving head in general, or swallowing specifically, just keep practicing until you get the hang of it. Part of building the intimacy that comes with having a sexual relationship is the trust that builds between the two of you, and going through this kind of learning experience is an excellent manifestation of that process.
