So I'm doing an essay on a "soldier's experience". In the introductory paragraph I have to give a Hook, Background Info, and a Thesis Statement. This is my thesis: War is a lifechanging experience -- for the bad. Does anybody have any ideas for a hook? And also.. for the background info part it's kind of where your opinion about war goes. So what is all of your guys opinino about war? Thank youuu
ah i don't know about a hook but i just had to voice my opinion on what i think of war (the violence and guns and combat stuff ........ hope it helps.....
this is an analogy:
it's like rape.... the act itself is violent and horrible but the end result is a health baby (in some cases....this is a very negotiable point). in the same respect it brings into question this:
had the mother of that child escaped her fate of being raped would she have done so keeping in mind she has her baby that she loves?! (personal point: i think she would've... tho some wud argue that she wdnt give up the baby) anyway if she would it wud mean no baby.... but if she wud go through it for the sake of keeping it will that pain of being raped... of her past horror, ever go away? probably it will fade when she dies and the only thing left of her is her baby... but even that baby in itself is already partly a link or something of a result of a horrible action... and it has been documented that children of rape are indeed prone to higher risks of mental and emotional instability and imbalance.... so how is this justified?
and in that respect this again brings me to question the legitimacy of war?
i really disagree with it even as a last desperate measure and i think its an action taken irrationally... in any case i never support the combat/violence war... i would much rather go with economical or political war and such... besides i believe it has more power in manipulating things and bringing beneficial or practical end results.........
(i am just throwing random ideas here for the sake of the analogy: would it be better to have committed a dead -rape- and be persecuted for it or would it be more effective and "safer" to seduce the individual and have them yield willingly?)
