we are doing a debate in class. we were told to put together 4-5 topics to debate upon and i have one. It is about the banning of partial birth which recently took effect. What other current events could i bring up? thanks!
Oooh. Sounds really interesting. Here are a few things I find interesting:
-The whole Don Imus scandal--a white man referring to a group of black women as "nappy headed hos."
-Gun control, especially because of the Virginia Tech shootings.
-Abortion is always a huge debate, as are gay marriage and sex ed in schools.
-The war in Iraq...whether America should be there, etc.
-Censorship on TV and the radio.
-Global warming.
-HPV shots--some people say they should be required for all girls over the age of 9, as cervical cancer (which develops from HPV) is the most common STD in women...while others say it encourages kids to have sex.
That's all I can think of right now...good luck! I hope I gave you some good ideas!
